OOC: Sorry for the delay.

IC:

((USS Narendra, Holodeck, Sakura Karaoke))

Tito shrugged. He was uncomfortable for several reasons.
He needed a bath and a change of clothes. He was tricked. He barely knew any of them.
Still he would behave instead of leaving, as he wished.
Apparently even Sera was trying to fit in. He was guessing that in no time both her and Sherlock would have finished the bottle and been singing, without the need of the Karaoke machine.

Tito: Then why don’t we all start. Isn’t there a song we can all sing?

Sherlock: ::sarcastically:: Row, Row, Row Your Boat?

Sera:  ::to Sherlock::  What? Are you unwell?

Sherlock and Sera appeared to be getting their nerve from the bottle, as DeVeau got her’s from seeing them suffer.

DeVeau: We could do it as a round!

Tito looked at DeVeau, until Sherlock spoke, centring the attention on her.

Sherlock: I have an idea.

DeVeau: What do you propose?

Sherlock: Since we have Vulcan songs, and a variety of Terran songs...why don't we all sing a song from where we come from?

Sera:  My people are not known for popular music, Lieutenant.

Tito:  My Portuguese is considerably rusty.

Sherlock: I think that might be fun

DeVeau:  I do too!  So once again…who goes first?

Tito turned to Sherlock

Tito: Your idea, are you brave enough for it

Sherlock: ::shaking her head:: Ey ain afray.

But it was their Vulcan companion who moved first.

Sera:  Very well, Lieutenant Sherlock.  I am certain that my selection will give you all vast insight to who I am psychologically.

DeVeau: Great!  I’m sure you’ll do wonderfully!

Tito nodded politely at her

Tito: I am curious. Thank you for stepping forward.

Taking her place she looked at the screen.

Sera:  These songs are regional…I don’t know any of them…and…they are funeral dirges.   Who designed this program?

Sherlock: ::jokingly, accusingly, over dramatically:: Vargas! ::turning back to Sera:: Just...sing something you're familiar with.

Sera:  You…want me…to sing something I know?

DeVeau: Why not?  I mean, in Karaoke, you generally need to at least
know the tune passably.  This just means you know the tune *and* the words.

Sherlock: Yeah, like a song you'd hum while you worked. Do Vulcan's hum?

Sera:   It will be without musical accompaniment.  There are no melodies that align with the song I know.

Sherlock: That should be very ::pausing:: interesting.

Sera:  Very well.

Tito waited patiently as Sera finally prepared herself. He didn’t understand a word of it but the acapella singing really struck a chord, and it answered the question, can Vulcan’s sing.

Yes. At least Sera could. And admirably well.

Sherlock: What does it mean? Can you tell us in Standard?

Sera:  I…I can.  However, I am uncertain if it will sound…It may not translate well.

DeVeau: Please, I’d love to hear it in my native tongue!

Sherlock: No, just in Standard is fine. Doesn't have to be in everyone's native tongue.

Tito simply nodded as Sera again began to sing.

Sera:
Asleep, at peace
lips parted and body limp,
Your thoughts linger like the scent of the storm after sandfire,
Clinging to my skin as you,
even in repose are bound to my very being
A discordant chord within the only melody I had ever known
–until the times, until this day
Your mind calls too much, demands surrender
Yet I hardened to your will,
Forged in the fires to become the strongest of blades
A prize, battled for and won
When it was I who willingly set myself before thee
A supplicant, an offering –
Oh Ket’Cheleb
shall you think to tame the Endless sky?
My heart thrums to the consuming lament within thee.
I want to break you, as the war rages eternal beneath thy skin
But I stay my hand upon your cheek,
the colors of sand and blood and passions unspoken painted upon thy skin
You cannot help what you are, it was written in the stars
But I am the quenching force
I am thy salvation
Or destruction…if I choose.

When she finished she stepped away and both Sherlock and DeVeau were clapping,

DeVeau: That was fantastic, Sera!  Absolutely beautiful!

Sherlock: Yes, Sera. It was lovely.

Tito had joined them and bowed to Sera when she came close to them.

Tito: Thank you for sharing that. I feel honored.

Sera:  response

DeVeau: Seriously, you did great.  You have a lovely voice! ::turning to Tito and Sherlock:: Well, now we have to decide who goes next.

Sherlock: Gentlemen first?

Tito: Ladies First?

Sera:  response

DeVeau eyed them and Tito kept his stance over both Sherlock and DeVeau.

DeVeau: I think the only male member of this group should add his lower
voice to the mix.

Sherlock: I agree. We need some balance. Balance in all things!

Tito: But singing now will certainly unbalance it, since it’s just my voice against yours.

Sera:  response

DeVeau: Should I pull rank?

Sherlock grinned and nodded. As he narrowed his eyes.

Tito: For Lieutenant Sherlock to be next? I don’t think she needs that encouragement.

Sera:  response

Sherlock leaned in towards DeVeau slightly.

Sherlock: I mean, technically, I could order him to go next? ::shrugging::

DeVeau: ?

Sherlock: ::glaring at Tito, but talking to DeVeau:: Very well. I'll go next.

Tito grinned and nodded.

Sera: response

And it looked like Sherlock would take it serious as she took the uniform jacket, tossing it to a chair and she closed her eyes as she began to sing.

Sherlock: ((OOC for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-QYzQDUHUw))

Again Tito applauded when she finished.

Tito: Very good as well.

DeVeau/Sera: response

Tito: It’s a beautiful song.

DeVeau/Sera/Sherlock: response.

Tito: So it is, I will have to apologize because I am  very rusty in my portuguese. And the song will not be as deep as yours. But I do remember most of it.

He made his way to the “center stage”. It took him some time to find all the lyrics, but he smiled as he finally saw them.

Taking his place he took a deep breath as the music began to play.

Tito bowed after he finished. It was a song that Silveira’s grandfather had found, and it was really the only Portuguese thing Tito truly remembered. His smile was sad when he joined the others.

Tito: I hope it was to your liking.

DeVeau/Sera/Sherlock: response.

Tito: That’s basically all my portuguese as well. I am not as in tuned with my culture my friend. We used to sing this a lot when we were kids.

DeVeau/Sera/Sherlock: response.
