One little known fact about Wyn Foster was that he was not only a bartender but a very good mixologist. Well maybe not so little known.  He had offered to mix drinks at Kreshkova’s housewarming party and even had several mixing competitions on the USS Constitution-B.

And he won most of them. In Wyn’s mind he should won all of them, but the former keeper of the Conny’s saloon, a Ferengi named Zogi, cheated. You might argue it was all in Wyn’s head, but Zogi was run off the Conny the year after Wyn transferred away for, well, cheating customers. The new proprietor was ex-Starfleet, a guy named Kincaid and Wyn’s dad said Kincaid was a good guy. And Wyn took his dad’s opinion very highly so he was glad there was a happy ending.

Anyways, where was he? Oh yes, explanations of tending bar…

Foster: I earned friends and favors by tending bar in the academy.  I also earned friends and favors by doling out hangover remedies at the academy. You could call me a one stop shop.

McLaren: You had to have been popular. Both would have been valuable skills at the academy. Wish I had taken more time back then to get out.

Wyn shrugged. Popular was a loaded statement. You could be popular, and you could be Popular. And those two things, despite being the same word, could be very different things.

Foster: I was sociable if nothing else. But I was also really weird so… I made it through one way or the other.  ::he took a sip of the water provided already:: How about you?

McLaren: I was pretty focused on my studies... even if I wasn’t the best student in many of my courses. Still... had at least one memorable fling with another cadet...

Both antennae perked, feeling there was a story there.

Foster: Oh?  That sounds like a tale for the ages…

McLaren: Was a whirlwind thing... fueled by Orion pheremones... she was a nice girl... I often wonder how she’s doing.

He could picture studious Sol getting swept away by a classmate, maybe with some late-night study sessions that turned into late night trysts.

Such things were not uncommon in the Academy, even if the professors discouraged it.

Foster: Hm. I suppose it would be weird to look her up if you didn’t keep in touch. But I’m sure you could at least check if you wanted to.

McLaren: What about you? Someone ever catch your eye back then?

His antennae wiggled a bit.

Foster: I had a relationship that carried over from my senior year of high school. He was tall, dark and handsome and figured I wasn’t into him because I dated girls in high school. But you know Andorian biology. Anyways we finally figured out we both had a crush on one another two weeks before I left for the academy, It was a nice two weeks. I kept in touch and met up for two summers, but he wasn’t going into Starfleet. Last I heard from him he got into the Federation Engineering Corps an married a biologist out near Fantastia Colonies. They helped build the Fantastia VII settlement and love it there. So that’s all well that ends well.

McLaren: ?

Wyn shrugged.

Foster: You know, I tend to avoid my own species. That seems weird, maybe? But I wasn’t raised on Andor so a lot of it feels foreign.

McLaren: ?

He waved a hand in the air in a so-so sort of gesture.

Foster: I mean I spent a lot of time around humans but Earth never truly felt like home, either. To be honest a starship feels the most like home.

Which begged the question of what would he do if he wanted to settle down? Did starships take on aging doctors?  Adopt a retired Starfleet officer!

Who knew? He was a ways away from that, thankfully.

McLaren: ?

Foster: You grew up on Earth, right? I remember us visiting your homelands.

McLaren: ?

Foster: I remember it was beautiful! ::his blue eyes sparkled:: See, I did pay attention!

McLaren: ?
