((“The Ballroom” - SS Belladonna))/((Timestamp: The last night of 2399))

Entering the Belladonna’s ballroom a high vaulted ceiling was present, embellished with scalloped edging, and painted artwork. In the middle of the room was a high gloss marble floor she assumed was for dancing. Likewise there was a set of three large tiered crystal chandeliers, sparkling, reflecting a soft glow throughout the room. Finally, around the perimeter of the dance floor were several circular tables laid with white table clothes, crystal wine glasses and silverware with gold edging.

Haukea had trouble taking in the full scale of the room. And as such ended up ignoring the high floor to ceiling windows and the food laid on the tables. Instead she ended up wandering over towards two officers she didn’t recognize, but looked to be a Human and a Betazoid, ready to introduce herself.

Willow: Hello, I’m not sure we’ve met. Haukea-Willow. New security officer. ::She held out her hand for a hand shake::

Taybrim: Haukea-Willow, it is delightful to meet you in person. Welcome to StarBase 118 Ops and welcome to the Belladonna!

Tito: Tito, Intelligence department. Nice to meet you.

Most non-human species did not partake in the practice of shaking hands. Haukea herself had adopted the human custom, though with minimal return. Fortunately in this instance both the Commodore and Lieutenant, handsomely dressed in fine tuxedos, returned the gesture, with an extra nod from Tito and a smile from Taybrim.

Willow: It’s a pleasure Commodore Taybrim and Lieutenant Tito.

Taybrim: And Mr. Tito, you are looking quite sharp tonight. Welcome and good evening!

Haukea more than agreed with Taybrim’s complement towards Tito. In actual fact she thought both men looked rather fetching. And she would have said so if she hadn’t been distracted by Tito’s small bow towards Taybrim, at which she held back a giggle.

Tito: Thank you Commodore, you look pretty well yourself.

And while the topic of appearances was one Haukea appreciated, she wasn’t vain enough to continue with it for a prolonged period of time. As such she moved on to another relevant topic, the party, after all this was her first one.

Willow: Now tell me, what are these parties normally like?

Haukea-Willow was always a naturally curious individual.

Taybrim: Well, there will be always be delicious food, good drink and some sort of entertainment at these parties, as well as official welcomes and awards.

Tito: I can attest to that, since I have been to one a couple myself since I am stationed here.

Willow: I may not have been able to take in all of the ambience, but, this place seems rather special.

The fanciest parties Haukea had ever been to were back home on Risa during the Moon Festival. Such parties involved late nights, full moons, and a variety of other activities. Yet, they were a majority more “free-spirited” than she imagined a Starfleet party ever being. Even so, from what she had seen, the ballroom was lavish, far fancier than dancing on the beach, feet in the water, under the full moon light.

Taybrim: ::Nodding, gesturing around the formal ballroom:: Yes, this one is special.  We get to combine celebrating our crew, with celebrating the turn of the century and this is the Belladonna’s thank you for assisting them.

The human officer, Tito, nodded in agreement. It must have been a rather harrowing mission, if the crew of the Belladonna was willing to provide use of their ballroom. In a way the Risian was glad to not have been involved, yet, having joined the crew, which was to become like family, future missions were to become part of her business. Tito then turned towards Willow, as if to explain something further about the Belladonna.

Tito: We helped them. It was a complicated mission.

Willow: I can only imagine. What about the Belladonna? Their crew? Starfleet or?

Taybrim: The crew of the Belladonna are all civilians, but they are a very fine crew.  This is one of the premiere passenger liners in the Federation so they pull some of the best.

Tito: And with good reason, they have an amazing ballroom.

Willow: Well, they must be extremely thankful towards you guys. And this place, well it certainly is classier than the beaches used for the Moon Festival. Including entertainment?

Taybrim, knowing the exact workings of the event, gestured towards a stage, drawing Haukea’s attention towards a trio of Andorian musicians. Curiously she wondered what sort of music they were going to play. Classical? Pop? Jazz? Galactic cultures?

Taybrim: Yes, that certainly does include the entertainment.  I do hope you both like music, or dancing.

Haukea-Willow was not at all a formally trained dancer by any means. She knew a move or two, but mostly, during the Moon Festival they let the atmosphere of the festival guide them, arms flung out spinning or swaying. She didn’t think her dance moves would be entirely appropriate for this formal of a situation.

Tito on the other hand, as she gazed around to see others’ reactions, looked to be frowning. Either he was a good dancer and didn’t want to admit it or was embarrassed by his lack of skill.

Tito: Well, not really my chosen activity.

Willow: I have a few moves, though I’m not sure appropriate for this exact situation.

Taybrim: Response

Tito strangely raised his hand, waving it in the air as if in a school classroom answering a teacher’s question.

Tito: I am not much of a dancer. But I danced just before our recent visit to Bajor, so it’s just a matter of finding someone I am comfortable with. Do any of you dance regularly?

Willow: At least once a year at the Risian Moon Festival. But then again, we never get formal about dancing at those sorts of things.

Taybrim: Response

Tito: Interesting.

Willow: I mean, dancing under the moonlight, on the beach, not exactly the ideal situation for ballroom dancing.

Taybrim/Tito: Response

Willow: Not my idea of a hobby, though I do appreciate it. I tend to do more stationary activities outside of my duty post.

Taybrim/Tito: Response

Willow: What about the two of you? A pair of handsome young men like you must have some dance skills?

Taybrim/Tito: Response
