((Capricalian Patrol Vessel Theirr, Capricalian System, Former Romulan Empire Space))
The security chief had brought a whole arsenal of weapons, tactical gear thrice fold, several hand phasers, her trusty phaser rifle, combat tricorders, the provided defence systems of the Theirr and her own combative skill. Yet, no photonic grenades due to inaccessibility during ship combat.
Despite such a potential error, Haukea, assessing the non-verbal communication skills of her colleagues, could easily ascertain the hesitance that sh’Sonora was radiating. And though newly assigned to her first posting since graduating from the academy, there, to the security chief, was no excuse for not being able to acknowledge the differences in the rationales of others. The Risian herself, while pacifistic in nature, found tremendous pride in knowing exactly when to strike, analysing several data points in order to form an accurate assessment of the current situation. As of now all attempts at formulating a convincing plan indicated such non-violent actions, though potentially reaching their end of usefulness.
With a heaving sign Haukea glanced out the view screen, beams of light reflecting from a Wanderer class blockade runner in close proximity towards the Theirr, activating several emergency sensors that had been triggered due to emergency power activation.
Wethern: That might be our decision made, that was a tachyon ping and the vessel is moving on an intercept course to their floating icicle we spaced.
Sensing the urgency of the situation Haukea wrestled to free a hand, reactivating her own console, illuminating the back lit light of the radar detector. Upon activating several data analysis applications, dividing her screen into several sections, several data points became obvious including that of absorbed tachyon particles reflecting off the Theirr’s shields.
Further observed in the quiet ambiance was the movements of the forearmed pirate vessel, merely a few hundred metres off their bow, keen on discovering the three Starfleet officers, rather than continuing on their own previous man hunt.
sh’Sonora: Right on top of us…
Wethern: Whilst I'm normally one happy to wait in the bar for things like this. Hiding in the shadow of their shield and warp bubble would provide us some safety before we can come up with a plan and is technically a non confrontational option.
Willow: While true to being non confrontational in nature, I have reservations on being in such extreme proximity to the other vessel. The risks to our own person are greatly increased.
sh’Sonora: Huh… hey…. HEY! ::Mi’shune dashed to her duffel back, digging in fiercely until she found what she was looking for, a PADD. She began to tap furiously at the controls.::
Willow: Care to illuminate us with your insight Ensign?
Wethern: All I'm saying is we would have some power for a coffee and if we decided to take an EVA walk for some shaped ship charges it might be a good change of scenery.
sh’Sonora: We may not have to! Okay, a dry fire of the ion mine launchers can propel the mines a. ::beep beep beeeeep:: And we have a distance of… :: She eyeballed the looming pirate vessel, then turned to her PADD to rapidly enter in more numbers.:: Carry the four… ::beep beep beeeeeeep:: And their estimated response time between being hit by the EMP and rebooting their systems to full functionality… ::Beep beep beep…. DING!:: Hmmmm… a little close for my liking. Does anyone want to check my math? It’s not my strong suite.
The Andorian pilot exchanged the PADD with Wethern before he handed it off to Willow. The security chief was certainly perplexed at the numbers, confused towards their exact purpose. Yet, if properly explained, given the chance, it was highly likely that sh’Sonora could, with her unique skill, maneuver them within range, keeping the likelihood of increased risk at bay.
Wethern: Response
Willow: Slow down, explain it one more time?
sh’Sonora: ::Excitedly:: Can’t you see? The ion mines. They aren’t just proximity explosives. They’re magnetic too! If we can EMP the pirate vessel, that might give us enough time for the ion mine to drift and clamp onto their hull. Then we don’t have to close combat them. They have to do what we say or we disable their vessel. Nobody has to fight, nobody has to die, unless those pirates aren't the post-capitalist freebooters we think they are and have serious self-preservation issues. All we need to do is buy some time, hope to the gods my calculations are right, and make them stay still before they realize we’ve mined them. How’s that for a negotiating position?
Willow: You truly are a wonder sh’Sonora.
Wethern: Response
sh'Sonora: Oh, and we only have three ion mines left, so we can't frell this up.
Willow: However, if I understood you correctly, you are suggesting our remaining ion mines to magnetically attach them to the pirate vessels hull, remotely activating an EMP, all while maintaining a safe distance in order to attempt communication?
Wethern/sh’Sonora: Response
Willow: That does suggest significant compromise. I’m willing to give it a go. Yet if after two strikes you have not been able to make contact, we will have to readvise, before launching our remaining ion mine.
Wethern/sh’Sonora: Response
Willow: I’ll continue to monitor the radar. Any other warnings or preparations before we begin? It was your brilliant plan after all, you are the expert.
