((Spaceport Miranda VII - Cargo Bay I-2))
::Lhara Khota had arrived early. Anytime she had to get her hands dirty like this she always made a point to arrive early.
Usually she preferred to not get her hands dirty. She liked to use underlings - disposable people - to do this sort of work. However she also usually dealt with more routine shipments. The stockpile of chemicals she was gathering had been slowly accumulated thus far. It was enough to wreak a little bit of havoc, but nothing earth shattering. She could keep quietly stockpiling, but her Romulan sensibilities had forced her to keep a close ear on the rumor mill and information trade - all of which said that Gold Dew was quickly getting regulated by organizations such as Starfleet and the legal liquor was likely to be controll if not made outright illegal to trade.
That would not only raise the price astronomically, but it would vastly increase the scrutiny she would face trying to purchase it. So she had decided to buy the greatest quantity possible before that happened. And with such a large purchase came a very large price - and the responsibility for it. There was little choice. She had to be there to make the transaction.
Still, she didn't trust this Jerol or his associates. So she brought along people she did trust and got there plenty early. Enough to scope out the bay, and get her associates in place with disruptors at the ready. Should there be any sign of foul play, she wouldn't hesitate to disintegrate this Jerol and hightail off with his cargo. It wasn't that she wanted such a mess on her hands - she didn't invite it - but she was paranoid and always thought the worst of anybody who wasn't loyal to Romulus.
Verat, her cousin and personal bodyguard, move up beside her.::
Verat: All is in place, my lady.
Khota: Good. ::She offered a faintly predatory smile:: I hope this will go smoothly. But I appreciate your assistance.
Verat: ::He cupped his hands together in an ancient Romulan hand sign for luck that was peculiar to their family:: I stand by your side, as always.
Khota: Do you forsee any complications?
::Verat considered and shook his head::
Verat: There is a ship docking shortly - the Valor - that will draw the station personnel's attention and give us an opening to inspect and move the cargo. You can then draw up payment with Jerol and we should be able to leave immediately after the transfer is approved.
Khota: ::She nodded, looking pleased:: Excellent. Now we wait.
Verat: ::an even nod:: I do hope Mr. Jerol is on time. ::his eyes scanned the recesses of the bay where three Romulan bodyguards with itchy trigger fingers were hidden in the shadows.:: For his sake.
Khota: ::With a predatory smile:: For his sake.
