((Beach - Raskor II))
Ross: Ready for the stage?
Voss: ::shaking her head:: Oh yeah. I’m sure they give all kinds of commendations for losing your memory and yelling at visiting CSOs.
Ross was about to answer, but instead he just threw are a mischievous grin. His Intel senses told him there would be more reasons for Lyra to mount the stage tonight - but she would probably find out soon enough.
He was quickly distracted anyways - from the corner of his eye, he caught another person approaching. When Ross turned his head, he couldn't believe his eyes for a moment.
Ross: Haukea?!
She looked fantastic - as if she had been on a refreshing holiday. As a matter of fact, she still looked as if she was.
Willow: Aloha!
Ross: How have you been? I had no idea you'd be here!
He hadn't seen her in a while - the sight of his old friend made his eyes lit up. They had been together in all of this from the very start, going through some tense situations - Ross didn't hesitate to pull Haukea into a warm hug.
Voss: Yeah, it’s lovely to see you!
Willow: I…::Flustered, blushing, her words came in choppy fragments until the hug was released:: I… It was a last second decision. The timing felt right. I had some motivation from Alfred Lord Tennyson and my books.
Voss: I still owe you a movie night. Although sadly, I suppose it’ll have to wait until next shore leave at this point.
Willow: I can’t believe you remember. That feels like ages ago to me.
Ross took a step back, burying his hands in his pockets with a smile. He hadn't realised how much he had missed the sight of a familiar face until now. With Corey and Madison gone, Haukea was the last remaining member of their old original Ensign-group.
Ross: Probably because it's been ages.
Voss: How long have you been back? Or were you taking leave on the station? Hopefully you didn’t get caught up in all the memory loss business!
Willow: Two full Federation standard months and I miss all that?! I had no idea, I was away on Risa. I arrived two nights ago.
Ross: Well then, welcome back! We missed you here.
Lyra's eyes had caught the bar - Ross didn't mind that at all, he was more than willing to get out of the sun.
Voss: Should we go grab drinks? This is way more heat and sunshine than I’m used to.
Willow: I don’t suppose you would do well on Risa. That’s all we have. Surf, sand and sun. We let the breeze go right through the house.
Ross: Sounds like you already had your fair share of beaches this year.
Voss: Response
Willow: Indoor, outdoor living it’s all you’ll ever find. Nature is our air conditioning. You could practically sleep outside; it's so idyllic.
That made him smile. It was apparent that Haukea had needed the little time-out - the time at home had done her well, she seemed refreshed and almost glowing. Together they stepped over to the drinks table, where Ross decided to be a gentleman and serve the ladies first.
Ross: What would you two like?
Voss: Response
After they had all grabbed a glass of lemonade, Ross clinked glasses with his friends, one of them old, one new - and yet both of their presences made him ease up immensely.
Willow: Though, I have to say, after two months, I’m glad to see you all again. Evan, Lyra. Tell me, how have you been?
Ross: Well, how much have you heard? It's been pretty much the same madness as always.
He threw Voss a short glance - she hadn't been around for long, but had already seen a lot of crazy things.
Voss: Response
Willow: No really, I want to know. Not about the missions, about the both of you. How you genuinely have been doing. I miss the little details.
Haukea took a sip through her straw, waiting for their response.
Another side-glance, this time a little more awkward -
Ross: Well - we've just come back from Betazed. I met Lyra's family.
Voss/Willow: Response
He smiled.
Ross: She's exaggerating. They were a lovely bunch. Very friendly. Very... attentive.
To be honest he was glad to be back among non-telepathic people. The idea of every single thought inside his head being examined by Lyra's countless siblings and parents had been a little... suffocating. It was like telling yourself NOT to think about a big pink elephant - and suddenly every single thought seemed like a transgression of good manners, especially with the way Lyra looked at him from time to time.
Voss/Willow: Response
Ross: How about you? And Maddie? Haven't seen her in a while, are things still good with you two?
Voss/Willow: Response
