A'Mayri: Once you step onto the boat, we can secure everyone’s belongings underneath the seats so you all are able to clearly see the clear bottom while we paddle out if so desired.

Sol followed after Evan stepping onto the boat and letting herself get accustomed to the motion of the water before making her way to set her bag down.

Ross: Aye aye, Captain! ::he shielded his eyes from the sun:: I never thought I'd say that, but - I wish I had brought a hat.

Sylvax: I believe the official Starfleet shoreleave guidance is “dress for the environment.”

A’Mayri: It would be inefficient to wear anything but environmentally compliant clothing, and I would assume uncomfortable as well.

Sol chuckled, peering up from under the wide brim of her sun hat.

McLaren: Always be prepared...

Ross: I guess that's the kind of decadence you get promoted for.

Sol looked up from storing her bag under the seats and laughed.

McLaren: The perks are definitely worth it...

Sylvax: I can help steer us out past the swimmers.

A'Mayri: ::slow blink:: Both a medical officer and potential helmsman sir, how well suited for the trip.

Ross: Did you hear that, Ryden? I think you just became Vulcan stand up-material.

Sol settled into a seat, sitting back slightly as the boat maneuvered its way out passed the swimmers.

McLaren: Just a very well rounded officer, Ryden.

Sylvax: Noted. I’ll add it to my medical record.

Sylvax: I think we chose the right activity.

Ross: It's been a while since we've done a trip like this. We should do this more often.

Sol nodded.

McLaren: If we can get away from the station... that place has the ability to keep a hold of you...

Sylvax:?

A’Mayri: Once we are far out enough and away from the swimmers, I am willing to stay with everyone's items while you all swim.

Sol could see Evan's joy at the mention of swimming.

Ross: You won't have to tell me twice. Are you guys joining?

Sho grinned at Evan's look

McLaren: Don't worry about me. I may join later.

Sylvax: ?

A’Mayri: I may swim for a moment if conditions and time permit.

Ross: I once heard Vulcans are able to sink to the ground like stones? Is that true?

McLaren: I've never heard of this...

Sylvax: ?

A’Mayri: ::small pause again, subtle amused expression:: The biology that causes me to sink like a stone when I am not actively treading the water has been both an amusing surprise and worrisome act to others.

Ross: Can't wait to see it. What do you guys think? Is this a good spot? Maybe towards that big rock over there?

Sol looked toward the rock formation indicated by Evan.

McLaren: What did you have in mind, Evan?

Sylvax/A’Mayri:: ?

Ross: I'll make this easier for you and swim.

Evan was the first into the water, and given his clear excitement at even the mention of swimming, Sol wasn't at all surprised. She watched from the boat as he dove into the pristine clear water. She could see his blurry from even as he dove deeper.

She laughed as he broke the surface after a few moments.

McLaren: Well someone is enjoying themselves...

Sylvax/A’Mayri:: ?

Ross: It's lovely! I'll race you towards the rocks, how about it!

McLaren: Well?

Sylvax/A’Mayri:: ?

As Evan took off Sol weighed her options. Did she want to jump in with the others or just paddle the boat closer. She eyed the others who chose to swim after Evan, then retrieved a paddle and begane to move the boat slightly closer to the rocks. While swimming there and back would have been fun, Evan had also been right that it would likely be a good place to explore a bit and the boat being closer would be much easier for them all.

Ross: ::panting:: That was close, though! I'm pretty sure you had a headstart.

McLaren: Nice try, Evan!

Sylvax/A’Mayri:: ?

Ross: ...did you hear that?

Sol raised an eyebrow looking around for the source of the rumbling.

McLaren: I hear it... but I don't see it yet...

Sylvax/A’Mayri:: ?

Sol slowed her paddling, trying steady the boat. She kept searching the water for the source of the rumbling. Suddenly she spotted a large dark blob approaching them. She pointed.

McLaren: There!

Sylvax/A'Mayri/Ross: Response?

The blob continued to approach them for a few moments before breaching the surface with a large spray of water and a large splash of water as a large gray tail slapped the water. What Sol finally recognized as some sort of whale seemed to be curious about the group, though their presence near the rock formation would probably hinder the creature from getting too close.

McLaren: Would you look at that... :: she laughed. :: a whale of some sort...

Sylvax/A'Mayri/Ross: Response?

McLaren: Its probably just curious... doesn't seem aggressive.

Sylvax/A'Mayri/Ross: Response?

The whale continued to circle the rock formation and their little group. It didn't seem to be drawing closer but didn't seem to want to leave yet either. Sol couldn't really tell if there was any aggression in its motions, but to her eye there didn't appear to be. It looked more like the actions of a playful and curious creature, wanting to know more about the new group that had appeared in its habitat. Sol moved to kneel closer to the edge of the boat so she could talk with those on the water better.

McLaren: I wish I knew more about the wildlife on this planet... would be abel to tell what it was.... other than "whale" anyway.

Sylvax/A'Mayri/Ross: Response?
