OOC: Takes place the morning after Lael’s chat with Mei’konda

((Shuttlebay 1, Deck 4, USS Montreal))

Alentonis: Possibly. With a half hour for it to dry between each layer….that’ll bring us to...what, three days?

::Lael nodded. That really wasn’t bad at all considering how much time she’d devoted to the R & D phase. She’d been at it for at least a year and a half from theory to where they were now. Three days and she’d be one step closer to realizing her and Alex’s vision for the Antor II dome habitats. If this worked in protecting the shuttle, it was one less problem to solve with that project.::

Rosek: Sounds about right.

:: Tim grimaced. Three days. That meant he’d be drinking a lot of coffee to stay focused. It would need to be pretty strong coffee, and he learned a long time ago how to substitute it for sleep. That meant taking naps in between layers as the paint dried, or hauling in a few more extra bodies to paint the shuttle while they got their 8 hours of sleep. Maybe four, if they were unlucky. At least he knew how to nap when he could. ::

Alentonis: I’m sure there won’t be a shortage of people we could ask to help, unless you want to keep it between us and our coffee addiction.

Rosek: ::shakes her head:: Maybe one or two people. But Engineering is short staffed as it is and they’re still working on getting the ship’s systems up to scratch. The downside of an old ship is that it needs constant maintenance. ::pauses and claps him on the shoulder:: Come on. Let’s grab a quick bite while we go over the plan and the measurements again. It might be the last sit-down meal we get for awhile.

Alentonis: What about pulling in the CMO or a few others from sickbay in the meantime?

Rosek: ::smirks:: I'm beginning to think you don't want to be alone with me, Doctor.

Alentonis: :: swallowed roughly. :: I’m...I’m sorry…? The whole personal relationships thing is uncharted territory for me…

::His reaction made her laugh and she shook her head, grinning. He wasn't the first person she'd worked with that had social awkwardness and she doubted he'd be the last. She seemed to be a magnet for them. She had social anxiety herself, but managed to compensate for it with her outgoing personality and not letting it show how nervous she was. But somehow Alentonis, like Chythar, made her feel more at ease and more free to be her quirky self.::

Rosek: Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. ::smirks:: Relax, Tim. I'm only teasing.

:: Tim sighed heavily. Such a tease led to awkward conversations. Especially when he couldn’t distinguish between his personal and professional connections very well. He dimly recalled his days at the university where he was trying to be cool and meet the girls, but he was such an awkward social joke. ::

Alentonis: I can’t tell these things.
