IVANI: Cardassians have attacked. I'm assuming they want something. Likely the Gateway.
KVITOVA: Is that likely? (beat) If you are the Cardassian expert, Ms. Gupta, you'll know much more than I do, hm? So you're our objective expert here.
IVANI: Extremely likely. Wouldn't you? Humans want the Gateway. Cardassians, Klignons. Everyone wants the Gateway, and even the Federation, for all the good it does, has its own agenda as it attempts to procure it.
:: Harku nodded, but he was judicious in his movement. True, he and Ivani had helped find the device, but he wondered if he shouldn't have thought of the consequences in more detail. She was right, of course: Everyone wanted it, for good or ill, and even if the Cardassians were the assumed ill and the Federation the given good, that was far too simplistic to realistically represent their situation. He wasn't at all sure that he'd done the right thing. ::
IVANI: Cardassians are like wolves, they're loyal to the pack but only because the Alpha's particularly cruel and keeps the others on a short leash. If they can gain glory to raise themselves up in the eyes of their leaders, they will do it, no matter the cost. The Gateway is a prize indeed.

:: Harku trailed off. What was that now? There was something that was just visible through the window nearest him, and it was growing larger all the time. No, two things. Starships! A Federation starship, Galaxy-class if he wasn't mistaken, and a Cardassian warship, traveling together. ::
KVITOVA: Well, well, well. What do you make of that, Ms. Gupta?
IVANI: ?
