((Main Sickbay, Deck 6, USS Khitomer))

((OOC- Medical Treatment and Symptoms were discussed with Emma ahead of time via discord. Also, didn't want to push things too far and throw off the scene happening around Ayemet & Alix.))

The trouble with new applications of technology was the unknown. That may have honestly been the underlying stress that set Alix up for the foul mood she’d achieved at being questioned. The truth was the science should work and she was more than solid on the medical side of things, but under the limited time they’d had to implement the solution, there was just no way to guarantee they wouldn’t encounter snags along the way.

Ohnari: Fair enough. With it piggybacking off the comms, we'll just assume it aligns. I truly hope we are not in a position for anyone to go out of range, Gods be willing.

Harford: The projections were much more definite for length of viability. Taking into account the rate at which the Khitomer seems to be exposed to Sencha radiation, all of the crew should be safe for the next three years. Obviously, if there were constant exposure that would be shortened immensely. The beauty of this system though, is that once the implant is in place, it's a simple matter of resetting the anti-sencha serum, unless the device itself fails.

Ohnari: ::nodding:: While I do wish we had more time for testing, I would rather have the protection option on deck should we run into another Lattice Alliance attack like the one on Starbase 33.

Hobart: =/\= Medical to the Bridge. =/\=

Alix froze, mouth open to reply but cut off by the call from the Bridge. Even more strange was how quickly the comm line closed. It wasn’t that Alix minded the curt communication, she preferred it in fact. It was just that usually there would be some kind of information regarding the type of medical emergency.

Ohnari: Alright...that was...abrupt. ::tapping a response message via her PADD:: Lieutenant, take an emergency kit and see what needs done on the bridge. I'll stay here and make sure the calibrations of the signals are correct, in case of a failure.

Harford: On it. What do you think I’m walking into up there?

Not knowing was beginning to form a knot in the pit of her stomach. She tried her best not to think about Sevantha’s notes in Charles’ file. Tried not to see the picture of bloodstain on the carpet of the Bridge. But the brain was a frustrating thing and the harder you tried not to think of something, the more the mind would fixate.

Ohnari: ::wincing:: I did tell them to contact Sickbay if they had any severe pain or swelling that wouldn't go down so...could be that, and the Commander wasn't desiring to share that over an open comm...

Harford: Yeah… yeah you’re probably right. ::pause:: I’m going to take my personal kit as well just in case.

As she spoke, Alix slung the long strap of her personal kit across her chest and hefted an emergency kit in one hand. Making her way toward the exit, she returned the nod from her CMO and let the doors close behind her.

((Deck 1, Bridge, USS Khitomer at the Lagoon Nebula))

In the turbolift Alix took a mental inventory of the two kits she carried. It was part mental exercise to prepare herself for whatever she was about to walk into. Also, it was helping to calm her nerves, letting her center herself. The emergency kit was standard.

oO Tricorder, hypo, dermal, trauma kit, protoplaser, bandages, cardio and neural stimulators, respirator, delactovine, tricordrazine, analgine, hyronayln, panamyacin. Oo

Her own kit was a little more specialized.

oO Dermapatch spray, exoscalpel & autosutures, ventilator, hypos… Oo

She didn’t have time to finish her list before the lift doors opened and she calmly stepped onto the Bridge, face neutral and professional, eyes scanning the room to assess the situation in front of her. Briefly her eyes locked with Amelia’s and an internal band of tension loosened in her chest. Amelia was fine, upright and smiling softly. In fact, she was surprised and relieved to see that there were no obvious traumas. No headwounds. No traumatic injuries. No bleeders. The confusion must have ticked across her face briefly because Amelia directed her towards her patient.

Semara: Doctor - Lieutenant Dewitt needs attention, then I'd like a consult if you're still available after that.

Harford: ::nodding:: Of course. I’m on the Bridge until I’m needed elsewhere.

Turning towards Lieutenant Dewitt, Alix took her tricorder out and stepped up close to the woman, speaking low to give her some semblance of privacy. She began a preliminary scan even as she spoke.

Harford: Tell me what’s going on Lieutenant.

Ayemet / Shayne / Korras: Response

Semara: I just remembered... When we were runnin' from the collapsin' Hole's shockwave, sensors briefly recorded a second ship contact.  Pullin' up the sensor logs...

The Bridge continued running; conversation and computers and maybe a playback of some sort of footage. Alix let it all fade into background noise. Her patient was her singular focus. Ayemet’s vitals were elevated, akin to someone in shock. Her psilosynine levels were also abnormally high indicating an overworking of the neurotransmitters responsible for telepathy. Doctor Harford took a moment to clear her mind and strengthen her own mental shielding. It had long become second nature to her, but a quick refortification of her internal walls never hurt. The last thing Ayemet needed was a peek into her physician’s mind.

Semara: There!  :: Beat. :: There it is. :: Pausing the recording ::

An eyebrow twitched. Whatever they were looking for, Amelia was excited about something she’d seen. Curiosity almost pulled her focus, instead she put away her tricorder and addressed the woman in front of her.

Harford: Lieutenant, you’re in shock. Your telepathic markers are heightened. Do you know what might have caused your mind to trigger a physiological stress response? Did you overhear something or feel something unusual?

Ayemet / Shayne / Korras: Response

Alix listened intently. She didn’t want to miss any details in Ayemet’s explanation. She also needed to watch for any chance her patient might be minimizing her symptoms.

Semara: I thought it was a sensor echo at the time, but I ain't so sure now. :: Beat :: Lieutenant Korras, I ain't sure if you had a chance to read the mission logs, but those bright ribbons are fast-movin' and lethal strands a' Sencha radiation.  Do you think it's possible a vessel in either the Ouachita's position or its mirror could'a reached the singularity intact?

Harford: Treating the shock is simple. I can give you a very small dose of adrenalin to help your body reset itself. I can also give you meclizine for nausea and dizziness.

Ayemet / Shayne / Korras: Response

Alix chewed her lip for a moment thinking.

Harford: Before I give you anything, we need to talk about your telepathic control. If I give you a stimulant to treat the shock, you’ll have an even harder time controlling what you are sensing from others. Those abilities will be heightened. I believe the safest course of action for you, and everyone around you is to dampen those abilities.

Ayemet: Response

Doctor Harford understood the Lieutenant’s resistance. She imagined it would be akin to telling a patient she needed to temporarily blind them for their own safety. Unfortunately, it wasn’t just Ayemet she was considering in the situation. She had to take the safety of everyone around her into consideration. The Captain, or anyone here on the Bridge, could be compromised if Ayemet lost control. Hoping for a second opinion, or another voice of reason, Alix looked up and made eye contact with Amelia. She didn’t dare drop her shielding enough to push thoughts in her friend’s direction, but she hoped her expression would be enough to call the Betazoid over for that consult.

Harford: Lieutenant. I understand why you wouldn’t  want to lose your abilities, especially in the midst of ::gestures around her:: whatever is going on here. What if I could soften them, just slightly, just enough to give you back control? Trust me, better a small dose of Losorin now than a full dose of Lexorin later.

Ayemet / Semara: Response
