to USS Khitomer – StarBase 118 Star Trek PBEM RPG
((Deck 6, Main Sickbay, USS Khitomer))
Zerva: ::beat:: Damn it, Richard! First you get airlocked on shore leave after getting locked in your own room and now this?
Lera looked up at Ezra. It was the first time she had ever heard him swear. A short, plump human nurse was finishing her work on Lera's hand.
Nicholotti/Morda: Response
Michaels: Matthews has a thing going on with airlocks?
Zerva: Uh, Richard getting airlocked on shore leave, that's a long story. It will have to wait. ::shaking his head:: The report here from the Chief Science Officer says Ensign Matthews was taken by the alien ship after trying to get a sample of the nebula space matter on his space walk. :: beat:: I swear to whatever gods, we're getting him back and that’s a promise.
Lera closed her eyes. She opened her mouth to say something but then closed it again silently. A number of items that Ezra had just mentioned bordered on being incomprehensible to her.
oO Collect a sample of the nebula. Fine. Perhaps they thought the filaments were all at the far end of the ship. But the aliens "took" Matthews? They "took" him? What exactly does that mean? Oo
Michaels: They took him? ::closing her mouth, closing her eyes again and shaking her head. :: What?
Nicholotti/Morda: Response
C. Dewitt: =/\= Medical team to the bridge. Be aware of dangerous filaments infiltrating the bridge. =/\=
Zerva: I’m not letting that medical team leave without an escort. ::to Morda:: Ensign Morda, I need you to make sure they get the bridge in one piece.
Morda: Response
Zerva: And Ensign? If you don’t have one already, grab yourself a phaser from the armory on your way up. Just in case. Let the XO know what’s happening and make sure he gets a copy of that sensor data you uploaded from engineering.
Michaels: Well, Mr. Morda. It appears your engineering career is at an end. I will take care of the sensor data. You get to the bridge.
Morda : Response
Zerva: ::to Lera:: I think our best chance will be trying to get engineering back so we can get out of here in a hurry. I recommend we contact the bridge and update them. See if we can hookup with Lieutenant El’Heem, the Captain and Doctor Melville-Killpatrick in the science labs. Use the data we have with the sample they got from space. See if we can find a way to combat those filaments. Do you concur?
Michaels: We have a number engineering problems. Restoring full power. Without power there is little we can do concerning anything else. That probably involves dealing with the filaments. We have to free ourselves from the filaments without making the ship look like a submarine with a screen door. I suspect that dealing with the filaments will require input from Science.
Morda: Response
Zerva: Good idea.
Ezra gave a nod and tapped his commbage.
Zerva: =/\= Lieutenant Zerva to the bridge. =/\=
C. Dewitt / Any on the bridge: =/\= Response =/\=
Zerva: =/\= I’m sending Ensign Morda to accompany the medical team to the bridge. Do you have any additional updates for us, sir? =/\=
Morda / C. Dewitt / Any on the bridge: =/\= Response =/\=
Zerva: =/\= Yes sir, we appreciate the update. Commander, based on the available information we have, I think our best course of action would to get engineering back is in the science labs. My recommendation is Lieutenant Michaels and myself hook up with Captain Naxell and the science team there on deck 16. We can assist them in finding the answers we need. I’ll have Alpha and Beta Shifts stationed between Engineering decks on the lookout, should those filaments decide engineering isn’t enough and sneak their way to other parts of the ship. =/\=
Morda / C. Dewitt / Any on the bridge: =/\= Response =/\=
Michaels: Engineering is on the way to Deck 16. I should check their status before going to Science.
((Deck 12, Engineering, USS Khitomer))
Ezra busied himself with the Security team while Lera went to main console. Structural integrity was starting to show weaknesses. The workorders showed teams were already working on that. Main power levels were still dropping but at a much lower rate than they had originally observed. Obviously cutting out unnecessary systems was an effective technique. More was necessary. Khitomer needed to locate and isolate the areas with the power losses.
Michaels: Sparks. We need to know where we are losing power on a more granular basis than we are currently displaying. My suspicion is that most of the loss is through the filaments attached in the nacelles.
Sparks: Response
Michaels: That should do it. Let me know when you are done. :: beat :: Be extremely careful if you need to enter those Jeffries Tubes to accomplish that. There are nearly invisible filaments in that area that can do this :: Lera showed Sparks some of the sliced up areas on her uniform. :: and this. If you encounter any of them, get out of there immediately and report it to me and to Commander Valeris.
Sparks: Response
Michaels: ::nodding to Sparks:: I knew I could count on you.
Lera then reviewed the tricorder data that Mr. Morda had uploaded. Morda had done a good job with it and the data only required minimal cleanup and annotation before she could send it to Commander Dewitt. That done, Lera returned to where Ezra was waiting. He turned and nodded to her.
Michaels: I am finished here. I assume we are now heading down to Deck 16 now.
Zerva: Response
