((Ventral Ring Beta Module, No Leaf Unturned Tea Shop, Deep Space 33))
Lera sat at the small table, barely large enough for two, and checked her PADD. She was five minutes early, so Ras was not late. His message was cryptic. It was a simple request to meet her at this tea shop. There was no explanation about why, but the 'why' did not matter. He had saved her life. She owed him a life debt. Any request as simple as "please meet me at thus and so spot" got instant agreement.
The waitress, a young Bolian woman, delivered a cup of tea that was the colour of sapphires. There was also a small container of lemon juice that Lera concluded was obviously synthesized. Lera sighed. Synthesized ingredients were fine if it was impossible to get the real thing. Hopefully, her Butterfly Pea Tea was fully real. At this point, it did not matter.
Michaels: ::nodding:: Thank you.
Lera picked up the container of lemon juice and poured it into the tea. She smiled as the tea changed from the vibrant blue to a slightly subdued purple. It was a good sign that the tea was real. Even though she understood the chemistry of the colour change, the lemon juice had shifted the pH of the tea, and one of the components in the tea acted as an indicator; she still felt the usual pleasure at the colour shift.
Lera sat back and took a sip. If it was synthesized, it was extremely well done. She had settled in for only a few minutes when Ras entered the shop. Lera stood and Ras headed toward where she was standing. Though she had meant to ignore it, her attention was immediately drawn to his prosthetic hand,
Michaels: Welcome, Ras. You are looking well.
El'Heem: Response.
They sat. Though Lera tried smiling, it felt fraudulent. She knew that the Human emotions of sorrow and guilt had no value beyond motivation. She tried sweeping them aside and, once again, failed miserably. Before meeting T'Dara, she had always assumed that Vulcans did not feel such emotions. But T'Dara seemed to feel such emotions. Perhaps...
Michaels: You seem to have a knack for finding tea shops. I know you remember helping me on DS9. That tea was a great success with my aunt and uncle. :: beat:: I decided to try this one :: holding up the cup of purple tea :: The name interested me. Perhaps I should have waited until you were here to help me pick a more suitable tea.
Here to help me. Lera felt like she was always relying on Ras' help. Even when it was to his detriment.
El'Heem: Response
