((Deck 12, Engineering, USS Khitomer))
Chenn: =/\= Transporter Room two to Lieutenant Zerva? Uh crewman Chenn here. =/\=
Zerva: =/\= Go ahead crewman. =/\=
Chenn: =/\= Uh sir you might want to make your way here to deck 9. I think, uh, I think I've found some of those fil-a-ments you talked about. They’re in the… Oh my, is that… blood? =/\=
Ezra cast a quick glance at Lera.
Michaels: =/\= Chenn. Mark that location and then back away slowly and carefully. =/\=
That wasn’t good. Hopefully crewman Chenn could hold on until they got there.
Zerva: ::to Lera:: Looks like we’ve got our first location. Better grab a medkit on the way out.
Michaels: I will be just a moment. There are several nearby.
Zerva: =/\= Hold on Chenn, we’re on our way now =/\=
El’Heem: =/\= El’Heem to Lieutenant Michaels. Where are you? =/\=
Lera took a deep breath, sighed, rolled their eyes in a most un-Vulcan like manner and glanced up at Ezra.
Michaels: Now what? =/\= Michaels here. I am in Engineering. Is there a problem I need to attend to? =/\=
What indeed? Ras wouldn’t make a call to Lera unless it was important.
El’Heem: =/\= Change of plans. You and I have been conscripted for the away team. Meet me in the shuttle bay as soon as possible. We’re late. =/\=
Welp, it looks like Ezra was going to the transporter room without Lera.
Michaels: =/\= Understood. I am on my way. =/\=
Ezra quickly realized there was one thing he needed to do before Lera left for the shuttlebay.
Zerva: Lera, before you go? I need you to deliver a message to Ras for me. ::beat:: You tell him, he’d better bring Richard back in one piece or I’ll personally bring the entire security team with me and l’ll shoot him and Richard myself. And Lera? Be careful. You bring yourself and the rest of the away team home too. Good luck.
Ezra took the medkit from Lera and gave her a smile and a nod. He paused as he wasn’t sure about something and then gave her a quick peck on the cheek before she could argue and headed off to the nearest turbolift to Deck 9.
((Brief Timeskip. Deck 9, Transporter Room Two, USS Khitomer))
Ezra spied Crewman Chenn sitting just outside of Transporter Room 2. He was cradling his right hand in his left. There were small droplets of vivid blue blood from his hand on the floor. Ezra opened the first aid kit he had brought with him as he knelt down next to Chenn.
Zerva: Crewman, I’m going to need a full briefing of what's happening in there.
Chenn: I heard your shipwide announcement and was cleaning the transporter PADDs, ::annoyed:: again, when I felt a sharp pain in my right hand. Like when you’re cutting up some vegetables for dinner and you slip with the cutting knife and accidentally cut yourself. You know the pain? I remember this one time I was having my mother over for dinner and I wasn’t paying attention and —
Ezra quickly interrupted the Bolian.
Zerva: That’s a great story and I’d love to hear you finish it later crewman, but can you tell me if what happened was a result of the filaments? Did you get any sensor readings on the PADD?
Chenn: I didn’t get the chance, I tired to mark it like Lieutenant Michaels told me too, but whatever it was, I couldn’t see it.
Zerva: ::nodding as he reached over with a medical compress dressing to help:: Here let me help you with that wound —
The Bolian pulled his injured hand away as he spoke.
Chenn: I’m sorry sir, it’s… well it’s my blood. I don’t know how much you know about Bolian physiology, but my blood can be toxic to other humanoids. There’s been studies between Vulcans, Humans and —
Ezra raised a hand and quickly tapped his combadge.
Zerva: =/\= Zerva to sickbay. Wynters, I need you and a medic to Transporter Room 2. I’ve got an injured Bolian and potentially some filaments here. =/\=
Wynters: =/\= Yes sir, we’re on our way. =/\=
Zerva: Medical help is coming. You stay here and keep anyone from entering the room.
Chenn gave a nod as Ezra stood and took out his tricorder, the very one Lieutenant Semara had fixed several shore leaves ago last year. It was in perfect working order and he was thankful for her help in getting it calibrated back to full functionality.
Ezra slowly walked towards the doors as they parted and he entered the room.
He saw the trail of Bolian blood that led him past the transporter computer console over to the PADD itself. The sensor readings were going off just like the ones that Ensign Morda had detected earlier in engineering. The only problem was he couldn’t see them, but the readings indicated they were there. Carefully looking around he spied something that caught his eyes. The vivid blue blood from the Bolian on the PADD’s floor was reacting strangely, snaking about as if something invisible was moving through it ever so slowly.
Ezra stood back and tapped his combadge.
Zerva: =/\= Lieutenant Zerva to bridge. Commander, you wanted me to report immediately on any data I found. This is definitely it, sir. =/\=
C. Dewitt/Valeris/Morda/Korras: =/\= Response =/\=
Zerva: =/\= I’m in Transporter Room Two, Deck Nine. Crewman Chenn was injured when he came into contact with some filaments on the transporter PADD. I’ve got a medic on their way here now. Recommend not using the transporters just encase the other ones are infected too. =/\=
C. Dewitt/Valeris/Morda/Korras: =/\= Response =/\=
Zerva: =/\= According to the sensor readings I’ve got, it looks like the invisible filaments are embedded into the PADD itself sir. On top of that some of the threads have weaved their way though the Bolians blood on the floor of PADD causing it to snake about. I have a theory I’d like to test with permission sir. =/\=
C. Dewitt/Valeris/Morda/Korras: =/\= Response =/\=
Zerva: =/\= What if we could find a way to make the filaments visible and then use the transporter PADD to lock onto it and beam them out? Mind you, I’m not sure what would happen with the filaments the buffer. But if that’s possible, I can send someone from engineering to assist me here, since Lieutenant Michaels is on the away team now. =/\=
C. Dewitt/Valeris/Morda/Korras: =/\= Response =/\=
