[sb118-khitomer] MSNPC Technological Lead Vidya - Sen-sha Technology and New Faces

((Velithare Flagship Jorogumo, Lower Thorax, Technological Bay)).

Vidya stood examining the remains of what the last vessel called a, Sen-sha. Apparently it was some sort of alien  design to penetrate one’s vessel with a form of radiation and used in a way that could be called a ‘weapon’.

It mattered little. The design of their flagship, coupled with the nebula was more than enough to absorb its Sen-sha energy and dissipate it from harm around the Jorogumo.

How would this be of use, the flag of the ship, Rana would want to know. Could they absorb its technology and use it in a way that would benefit the Velithare? As the lead technological advancement, it was part of her job to study the alien, the unknown, and its design. To  find a use or discard it. She was leaning towards discard.

She turned toward her shadow, second lead of technological advancement. The second lead's job was to learn from the lead, just as Vidya had done once sometime ago as second lead. One day the second lead would take all the knowledge given to her by Vidya and those Velithare before and use that to further advance Velithare.

Vidya: It is puzzling is it not? Something so dangerous to others. Yet of no use to us? 

Second Lead: It’s energy, like the others before it was absorbed. It could be of use to power as a source?

Vidya: Your observation is well received, but for this to be of use, it must be considered not discarded.

Connection to the communication network commenced.

Rana: =/\= Vidya. If you're not too busy, could you help me with our newest guests? =/\= 

New guests? New opportunities. New technological developments for study. She could not say no. It was her duty. One she received well with no hesitation.

Vidya: =/\= As you requested, Captain. =/\=

Rana: =/\=  I will see you soon, then. =/\= 

With the disconnection, Vidya turned to her second.

Vidya: You will consider other options or discard.

The second bowed before her and continued their work. 

((Brief Timeskip, Velithare Flagship Jorogumo, The Head, Bridge)). 

Vidya exited on to the bridge. As was customary, she bowed before her as the Captain turned and addressed her.

Rana: Vidya, does proximity to the ship allow for a clearer assessment of the threat?

Vidya: Threat assessment will commence at once. ::eyeing the vessel and the readings given to the Jorogumo:: They are like the others, attempting to flee. They will not succeed. The probability of their success is minimal. Their weapons would appear inferior to the Sen-sha we are studying for abortion or discarding. They are of no threat. 

Rana: ::clicking thoughtfully:: Do you see anything...notable about it? Does it seem intelligent?

Vidya: The vessel would appear different than other vessels. This is unlike the crystalline forms and their alien counterparts ::checking the sensors:: Life forms of unknown aliens. Many different forms. Some are familiar, others not. Recommendation.  Further analysis is required for absorption if that is your request. 

Rana: Response

Comms Officer Hida spoke

Hida: Communication has commenced Captain. Recommendations?

Vidya: Curious. They wish to commence communications. Assessment? They seek surrender or they wish to learn of us as we do of them. Recommendation Captain? Commencement.

Rana: Response.

The comms officer acknowledged the Captain.

The communication filtered through.

C. Dewitt: =/\= This is Connor Dewitt of the starship Khitomer. =/\=

There was a pause in the communication before the words continued.

C. Dewitt: =/\= We are not hostile. We are currently experiencing navigational and power interference within the region. If there is anyone receiving this… we request assistance. =/\=

Vidya: Curious. They are unaware we are responsible. They seek out our aid. Recommending visuals. This could work to our advantage, Captain. Shall I continue assessment of threat off visuals? It would give us more time.

Rana: Response

Vidya bowed and moved away from the visual view screen. From where she stood at the Technological station she could see all, but remained out of view of the vessels watchful eyes of its visitors. 

As per customs, the Comms Officer would begin communication before the Captain spoke. The Captain would remain off screen but within visual sight as Vidya. Only the Comms Officer would address the aliens. It was more to assess the situation and make sure that which addressed the Captain met with approval. If they did not, the Captain would discard and commence with absorption.

The viewscreen activated and the species known as a human appeared before them. This one was not female, but presented as its lead. Perhaps they were the equivalent of a comms officer.

Velithari Comms Officer, Hida: =/\= Identify yourself. =/\=

The male did not hesitate, keeping their tone steady. It mattered not. They were not female. 

C. Dewitt: =/\= My name is Conno… =/\=

Velithari Comms Officer, Hida: =/\= ::sharply:: Unacceptable. =/\=

The male didn’t seem to understand. Not unusual for alien cultures that allowed its males to lead. They would soon understand.

Velithari Comms Officer, Hida: =/\= I will not address a male. You will present a female authority or this channel will be terminated. =/\=

Vidya turned her attention to the Captain while using her station to continue the scans of the vessel. She gave the Captain a nod indicating her scans were being conducted. It would not take long to gain additional information.

C. Dewitt: =/\= Of course. ::voice lowered:: I am merely assisting the command authority aboard this vessel.=/\=

Better. The male understood, stepping aside and opening the space in front of the viewscreen. His eyes flickered off screen and he gestured for a female to move forward. 

C. Dewitt: =/\= Thi… Uhm… This is Captain Ayemet Dewitt of the USS Khitomer. =/\=

Rana: Response.

This was good. Unlike the crystalline forms and their alien allies, they understood. This was promising.

A. Dewitt/Semara/Stros/Korras:Response

The male shuffled off view as the one addressed as the Captain made themselves known. A second female came into view and stood just off to one side of their Captain. No males were in view. 

If Vidya would, a smile would commence. Very promising. 

Velithari Comms Officer, Hida: =/\= Acceptable. ::pause:: Stand by to talk to the Captain. =/\=

A. Dewitt/Semara/Stros/Korras:Response

Hida stepped to one side and Rana stepped into view.

It would not be long now. Her scans had already taken two thirds of the vessel. Nothing had presented itself as a threat.

Rana: Response
