Ensign Lera Michaels - Dressing for Access

The decision on what to wear to the wedding should have been much simpler than this. It was the wedding between two Starfleet officers. The groom was her boss so she had to dress appropriately. Lera glanced at the dress white uniform. On the other hand, it was also a private wedding. There would also be civilian guests and there was no need to make her Starfleet connection obvious. Her attention turned to the Vulcan outfit. The Plum colored cloak with the elaborate black embroidery had considerable appeal as well. Lera had always enjoyed how the light grey slacks and a dark grey blouse long sleeved shirt looked with the cloak.

She checked the weather in Ventura and compared it to Marathon. Though Ventura was further north, during the winter, it was the warmer of the two cities. Coastal effect, no doubt. The plum cloak and dress slack combination would be fine for that location. What is more, it was the sort of outfit that people would expect.

Lera quickly changed and headed to the transporter room. The Chief there knew exactly where to send her.

((Dewitt Residence. Ventura, California. Earth))

Moments later, Lera materialized near a group of trees. The Dewitt estate was much larger than she had expected. There was a group of tents closer to the house... to the mansion. Many of them were wearing Starfleet dress uniforms but as she had anticipated, there was no shortage of people in civilian attire. Many of the officers she knew seemed to be busy with preparations. One group she knew was sitting together eating. That seemed an appropriate place to start.

Zerva: I see Ensign Matthews over at the buffet table. His skill at darts wasn’t much better than mine when you meet him. His poker skills though?

Zerva shook his head as he and Carpenter moved next to Richard at the buffet.

Zerva: Watch out or he’ll take all your candy from you.

Matthews: ::Glancing up, he spoke around a mouth full of candy:: Ezzarh, Haa! Sorry, let me try that again. Ezra! Lady, Hey! What unfounded and slanderous rumors are you spreading about me? A virtual paragon of kindness and innocence.

Carpenter: Response

Zerva: Hey, you’re the one who wanted to play Richard. You remember the Ronin’s Secuity Chief and Tactical Officer Commander Carpenter? My skill at darts wasn’t nearly as good as hers.

Matthews: Commander Carpenter! Hi! It’s so good to see you again!

Karsyn was sitting at the table adjacent to Zerva, Matthews, and Carpenter. He wore a pair of chocolate-colored dress pants with a matching belt and loafers. His short sleeve white button up was open at his neck and the sleeves were rolled up tight around his biceps.

Carpenter/Any: Response

Matthews: How’s Lieutenant Tucker?

Carpenter: Response

Matthews: Oh! No way, he’s a Lieutenant Commander now? Good for him! When that happen?

Carpenter: Response

Matthews: That’s awesome, oh hey, have you guys seen anyone else yet?

Carpenter / Zerva / Any: Response

Matthews: I saw the captain and Dr. Ohnari, but avoided that situation like the plague. But they didn’t look like they were arguing. So maybe everything is okay?

Carpenter / Zerva / Any: Response

Matthews: Response

Croix: Me?

Carpenter / Zerva / Matthews / Any: Response

Croix: Hi, I think I've seen you in passing, no?

Carpenter / Zerva / Matthews / Any: Response

As they were introducing themselves, Lera approached them while holding a plate of salad greens, some bread and a glass of room temperature water.

Croix: I'm Karsyn, Karsyn Croix, it's nice to meet all of you. I'm assuming you're all assigned to the Khitomer? Are you friends of the couple getting married? I forget what their names are, I just received an invite and felt that this was an opportunity to meet folks before we shipped out. Plus, you can't beat the weather here in California.

Michaels: Gentlemen. Ladies. May I join you?
