Nathan Richards had arrived at his scheduled appointment time. It was a minor miracle. The pleasantries and mild teasing had been exchanged, and now was time for the real show. He’d received mummers of her reputation as a prosthetics enthusiast, and apparently they had been decent enough for him to make a trip all the way out to the Alpha Isles.

So, after a cursory exam, she had several questions.

Now to ask…delicately…

Ohnari: ::yanking off the glasses:: Two things. First, shirt needs to come off. Second, and this is vastly important, who in the hell made this thing? ::grimacing:: Not to be rude but…were they a medical doctor??

Or direct. She kind of lost the plot towards the end. This thing was rather slap-dash by most medical device standards, and while she herself took more than a few liberties, the fact that it hadn’t blown up and taken the rest of his limbs with him was a minor miracle.

Richards: Yeah, they are a medical doctor. Maybe not as thoroughly trained in prosthetics as you are. It’s done me well for this long. I’ve made modifications myself and with the help of another Engineer. That’s one of the issues I’ve run into. I can’t get the access hatch open in the forearm.

And there it was. Internally, she was screaming. Engineers never left well enough alone, and while one could argue the science of the prosthetics were along the same tree, medical engineering and Starship engineering were not the same.

Ohnari: I see…that is…facsinating and terrifying all at once. ::beat:: I love it! ::slapping her hands and rubbing them together:: Alright Commander… this is gonna get weird…

Richards: Alright. Let’s get weird.

Now that she had visual on the entire device, she began scanning and tinkering with various places. The scans were matching up with the records…sort of.

Ohnari: You said there was an issue with the access hatch?

Richards: It’s like the release mechanism is stuck or something.

Scrunching her brows a bit, she scooted closer. She took one of her specialized tools and began prodding at what she assumed were hinges.

Ohnari: Huh. Well lets see what we can do…what is the hatch for? Is the main circuitry housed there..?

Like a lockpick that tripped the right tumblers, Talia found her way along a seam and before she could even blink, a blur of gold was coming directly at her face.

Richards: Incoming!

Ohnari: ::unintelligible squealing:: Wha-EEP!

Instinctively, she covered her face and ducked down. Apparently Commander Richards neglected to inform her he kept a grenade in his arm. After a few seconds, there was no boom. Just an odd, mechanical clicking. Peaking between her fingers she noticed the little ball unrolled and began…crawling?

Richards: There you are! Free at last! ::chuckling, looking at Talia:: Sorry, Doc. I’d like you to meet my ARMadillo.

For a moment, Talia just blinked. Eyes moving between the mechanical armadillo, and the man who was introducing it to her.

ARMadillo: :D

The little digital face seemed to be smiling at her. It was enough to shake off the alarm of the possible projectile flying towards her face.

Ohnari: That. Is. AWESOME!

Richards/ARMadillo: Response

Ohnari: ::bouncing in excitement:: Does he do tricks?? Can I touch him? Her? It?

Richards/ARMadillo: Response

Carefully, she cradled the golden arm dweller in her palms and squinted. The construction was remarkable.

Ohnari: Nice to meet you, ARMadillo…Gods above this thing is cool…How long has it been stuck in your arm??

Richards/ARMadillo: Response
