((Deck 6. Corridors just outside of Sickbay. USS Khitomer))
PO2 Kelana and PO3 Wynters were currently checking the upper decks with their security team. They had been assign to make sure all was well in the upper floors of the Khitomer. But now the lights were out on this deck, just like the rest of the ship that was covered in darkness.
Kelana: Great! ::groans:: The test must of caused a power outage.
Wynters: ::sighing:: You think?
Kelana: Hold on. I’ve got this. ::taps her comm badge:: Security to engineering. ::beet:: Engineering respond. ::grunts:: Security to the Bridge. ::sighs:: Petty Officer Kelana to Lieutenant Zerva.
Wynters: Not working?
Jill was starting to get frustrated by everything that was happening around them. She took a deep breath and steadied herself.
Kelana: ::shakes her head as if Wynters could see it:: Nope. Looks like total blackout. Where on deck 6 are we again?
Wynters: Sickbay should be just around the corner.
Kelana: Which would be great if I knew which way, but I can’t see a thing. Where’s the rest of our security detachment? They were close by.
Wynters: Should have brought a light. The rest of the security team probably got lost or stuck somewhere. We’ll find them. Try following the sound of my voice.
A loud thump echoed down the corridor breaking the silence beyond their own voices. Something was, alive here? Whatever it was, they’d find out soon enough. They proceed with caution towards the sound.
Kelana: What was that?!
Wynters: Whatever it was, it came down this way.
Jill crept silently forward in the darkness towards the direction of sickbay.
Kelana: Keep talking. I…
Suddenly Naatima tripped and found herself on the ground, which would be hilarious if there were lights on so Wynters could see it. Whatever it was she tripped on made a muffled sound.
Unknown person: Ow! My foot. ::groans::
Wynters: Are you alright? What was that?
Kelana: I’m fine. I think I landed on something or someone. ::pokes it:: Definitely someone. They’re squishy.
A light flickered on from the floor, it’s beam shining up and nearly blinding Jill.
Wynters: Ah! ::closes her eyes:: Do you mind?
The light shined over the two of them several times. Jill was getting annoyed by their light. A rather tall, lanky man in his twenties, clearly not dressed in a Starfleet Uniform and carrying a set of tools that lay scattered about the floor gave a sigh of relief. She grabbed the light out of his hands.
Wynters: ::grabs the light:: Give me that before you blind all of us!
SCE Officer: Regulation yellow duty uniforms. ::sighing:: Definitely not teal. ::winces in pain holding his right foot:: Thank goodness.
Wynters: ::shines the light at him:: Figures your SCE. What’s wrong with teal?
Kelana: Probably hates doctors as much as I do. How’s about I get off of you. Wynters, mind lending me a hand up?
SCE Officer: Oh sorry. I uh, would appreciate your help up too. Uh no, it’s not that I hate the color teal, it’s just I uh ::winces in pain:: got a little too close to your CMO and she got upset with me.
Wynters helped Naatima up. The tech however had trouble standing on one of his feet, as Wynters helped him up next.
Kelana: Is that how you injured yourself? Better be careful or the XO… er Captain now is it? He might get jealous, either that or she might replace it with a pink foot. Or a whole pink limb. I wouldn’t put it past her or him.
SCE Officer: Your crew has all kinds. I don’t think I’m safe anywhere on board.
Wynters: I don’t know, you fell over him pretty hard. Maybe it was your fall that caused the injury?
Kelana: ::annoyed look:: Ha, ha. I’m not laughing.
SCE Officer: ::continues holding his foot in pain as he stood up on one leg:: No. I think it was as the lights went out. I uh, ::embarrassed:: dropped the toolkit on my foot.
Kelana: Yep that would do it. If I were you, I’d stay away from sickbay. Did you know the CMO’s got a bat? I hear it’s vampiric and has fangs and everything. ::makes fang noises, taking two fingers pointing down over her mouth:: It wouldn’t surprise me if the Commander was a vampire of legend. ::grins:: So what are you doing out here and why were you in sickbay to begin with?
SCE Officer: ::nervous:: A vampire? You’re joking right? ::sees Kelana’s serous face:: Right. I was uh doing some required tech repair work.
Wynters: ::rolls her eyes:: She’s not a vampire. At least as far as I can tell. Now that you mention it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen her in the sun.
The SCE Officer motioned over to his tools on the floor that began to rise up into the air. The foot holding him up that he was hobbling about on was now floating along with the rest of his body. Wynters and Kelana found themselves floating next, their feet slowly moving just off the ground.
Kelana: We’re floating? Ugh. And now we’ve lost gravity. Great.
Wynters: ::begins to use the gravity to move closer to them both:: So is your foot broken?
SCE Officer: I don’t know. It hurts really bad. ::wincing:: I just hope gravity doesn’t come back on soon or it’s going to hurt even more when I fall on it. ::winces::
Jill rolled her eyes. She’d broken more than her fare share of bones, but she was tough and this guy was clearly not a marathon athlete or some sort of martial artist.
Kelana: I’m no doctor, but it looks like we’re in the right place. Better come with us. Here let’s pick up your tools. Or rather collect them, since they’re no longer on the ground. We might need them.
Kelana places the various tools into the kit with help from Wynters. It took longer then it should of because of the lack of gravity, but after a couple of minutes, they had all the tools back into the toolkit.
SCE Officer: Uh, do we have to go back? What if she gets angry at me a second time? Or ya know, tires to suck the blood out of me and saws off my foot and…
Wynters: ::beet:: Do you really want to stay here with a potential broken foot? ::Jill nods as he shakes his head no:: ::to Kelana:: Since you’re the one who tripped over him and gravity is gone, I’ll give you the honor of pushing him along. I’ll take point, since I got a light.
Kelana: Hey now! This is my watch. I’ve got rank. If anyone’s carrying him through this, it’s you.
SCE Officer: Maybe you could both help me?
Kelana: Fine. Let’s go. ::pushes herself off the nearby wall:: Hold on.
She used her momentum to propel him along down the hall with assistance from Wynters. It was going to take longer now that the gravity was gone.
((Brief Timeskip. Deck 6. Just outside of the Sickbay. USS Khitomer))
There was no sign of anyone else on their way to sickbay. It was like a ghost ship, or at least in this section of deck 6. If there was anyone here, they’d likely got trapped in an adorning room and were unlikely to get out anytime soon. Both of the two of them floated just outside the doors with the SCE tech between them, his arms around their shoulders. As they moved closer the doors didn’t automatically open.
SCE Officer: The doors are not opening.
Wynters: Very astute Sherlock. With power out, nothing’s automatic anymore until we get power back.
Naatima floated forward, stopping herself in front of the doors. She knocking on them, while Jill floated next to the SCE Officer up.
Kelana: Uh hello? Anyone home? Can you hear me in there? It’s Petty Officers Kelana and Wynters from security with a patient. ::knocks on the doors with her fist:: Hello? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? ::bangs her fist harder:: Fry?
SCE Officer: Assuming anyone’s home, can they even hear you in there?
Naatima tried knocking a few more times before she got an idea. She grabbed the box they collected of tools and opened up the toolkit.
Wynters: What are you thinking?
Kelana: ::pulls out a crowbar:: This! You ::turns to the injured tech:: Wait here against the wall, while we open the doors. Don’t move, er float away.
SCE Officer: ::grumbles:: Like I can go anywhere right now.
Kelana used the crowbar to bang on the doors again hoping that would make more noise than her fist. When Wynters arrived, the two of them began trying to open the doors. Kelana tried wedging the crowbar in place, but it wasn’t budging. Wynters gave it a shot next, while Kelana tried pulling on one side. It was very difficult given they were trying this weightless with no gravity. That’s when they herd a noise coming from the other side. It was loud and there was some sort of metal scraping noise like the doors were trying to force open. It was then they realized someone was trying to open the doors on the other end from inside of sickbay!
Wynters: Whoever it is, we’ve got to help them get it open. ::pulls back on the crowbar:: Pull!
Kelana: I’m trying! ::straining:: It’s not cooperating!
Wynters: ::straining:: Try harder!
After several attempts pulling back on the crowbar and the doors on what seemed like forever, finally they opened with a bit of air exchanges between the room and the corridor. But what awaited them on the other side was not just any medical doctor in teal.
SCE Officer: Finally! Let’s get insid…
Standing in the door way was the largest Klingon woman the SCE Officer had ever seen. Then again he didn’t see a lot of Klingons in his line of work. Perhaps this wasn’t a good idea at all he thought. The Klingon wore a nurse’s teal uniform, sporting the rank of Crewman First Class.
Othin: ::to the SCE Officer:: I am crewman Othin. ::beet:: Are you just going to float there and stare?!
SCE Officer: ::nervous:: Um, I er.
Wynters: We’ve got a patient here that’s a bit reluctant to come inside. ::to CMO Ohnari:: Apparently he broke his foot and thinks you’re a vampire.
A. Dewitt / Ohnari / Any (in sickbay): Response
SCE Officer: Did I say that? No, it wasn’t me. Promise.
Wynters: ::eyes Kelana:: I wonder where he got that idea?
Kelana: I don’t know what you’re talking about. ::smiles innocently:: Did we forget to mention we have a Klingon in medical on board? ::pushes SCE Officer forward, his body floating towards Othin:: Come on stop being a baby.
Othin: ::grinning her sharp teeth playing along:: Shall I prep him for the coffin? We still have plenty of room in the morgue.
Kelana: Ohh that’s not a bad idea! Let’s do that!
The SCE Officer was looking worried and he did his best to tug on his collar to relieve some sweat that was forming around his neck.
A. Dewitt / Ohnari / Any (in sickbay): Response
Wynters was happy to have him out of her hands. He was getting on her nerves. The coffin started to sound like a good idea to her.
Wynters: All of deck 6 is in complete darkness. I’m guessing the whole ship is as well? We tried calling ahead, but the comms are down too. Any word from engineering or the bridge?
A. Dewitt / Ohnari / Any (in sickbay): Response
Kelana: Yeah we didn’t even know where our own security team is at the moment. Probably should go fine them huh? ::to CMO Ohnari:: You’re the ranking officer. Want us to stick around or go find them? I’m sure there are others that need our help too.
A. Dewitt / Ohnari / Any (in sickbay): Response
Kelana: ::waves goodbye:: Good luck with your foot. ::whispering to Othin:: I think he might have gangrene. ::back to the SCE Officer:: I’m sure you’ll be fine.
Wynters: ::to A. Dewitt:: This guy is a bit too paranoid. I’d recommend a full psychic evaluation. I mean he did drop his own tools on his foot.
SCE Officer: ::to CMO Ohnair:: Sorry about before. Uh, what exactly are you going to do with my right foot?
A. Dewitt / Ohnari / Any (in sickbay): Response
