to USS Khitomer – StarBase 118 Star Trek PBEM RPG
((Sickbay/Counseling Suite, Deck 6, USS Khitomer))
Lera was just about to enter the Counseling Suite when she received a text message. That it was a text message rather than a voice over communicator seemed a bit unusual but she immediately decided it was either low priority or very private.
She stopped just outside the door and frowned as she read the message:
==================================================================
Lera,
I trust all went well during the mission?
I know you're busy with damage control teams right now.
Too much work for us both. I barely had the chance to scarf down some food or time with Foxy Lady.
I’d love to catch up once we arrive back at DS33.
Dinner date at the Mellow Mushroom in the Ventral Ring? I seem to recall we both kinda liked it. This time, let’s keep the dinner between us and not invite half the crew. Laughing emoji
With fondness,
~Ezra
==================================================================
Obviously there was no urgency and privacy as a premium. She doubted the existence of anyone on Khitomer who was unaware of her relationship with Ezra. In that regard, Khitomer was like Marathon. Everyone knew essentially everything about everyone else.
But "With fondness"? Was there some subtext to that? Were they still in the "fond" stage? He had spent the night in her bed not that long ago. Granted all they did was sleep... or try to sleep. Did that not indicate something more than "fond?"
Lera shook her head. This line of thinking was unproductive and, hence, an illogical waste of time and effort. Perhaps this was just a Trill thing. Her recent experience with Ensign Prix did indicate a complexity to Trills that she needed to take into account. Perhaps it was a Ezra thing. Perhaps...
oO Enough. Stay on target, Lera. You're here to see the counselor. Oo
Lera entered as the door slid open. The short, overweight nurse, Rachel LeDoux, greeted her.
LeDoux: Ah. Lera. What brings you here today?
Michaels: I would like to speak with a counselor, Rachel. I am surprised to see you here.
LeDoux: We're on barebones staffing. It's shoreleave and even medical, for some reason, likes to take some time off. :: glancing down at her PADD. :: But I know. I know. You didn't come here to chat with me. We do have one doctor on duty at the moment. Let me check with him and get right back with you.
Michaels: Thank you.
As LeDoux left, Lera's thoughts went back to her original purpose for the visit. The memories of what had happened with the Nausicaan on the Indulgence of Chocolate-Coated Jama'haro bothered her in ways she was certain that a true Vulcan could simply forget. Lera could not forget the ... was horror too strong a word?... More troublesome was the nagging doubt that she had brought it on herself.
LeDoux: Doctor Pershan will see you now. Don't you worry about him. If he gives you any grief, just let me know and I'll set him straight.
Michaels: Thank you again. ::nodding to LeDoux and venturing a slight smile :: Next time I visit we will chat more.
Lera had never met Doctor Pershan before which forced her to quickly revise her thought about small towns and Khitomer. He was sitting behind his desk when Lera entered his office. Judging from the state of his desk, he had just finished consulting some records. Presumably hers. As before, Lera found herself nervous in a most un-Vulcan like way, in the presence of a counselor.
Michaels: Doctor Pershan. ::slight bow:: Thank you for seeing me. I do not wish to take too much of your time.
Pershan : Response
Lera sat in the visitor chair on the opposite side of the desk from Pershan and folded her hands in her lap.
Michaels: I do not know how much you know about me. I am not a typical Vulcan. I was raised from infancy by a human couple.
Pershan : Response
Michaels: There was an ... unpleasant incident during our previous shore leave. It... to use a human term... haunts me in ways ... I would prefer it to simply be forgotten. I suspect that is not going to happen.
Pershan : Response
