Melville-Kilpatrick: But hey, that’s what it’s about. I never thought too much about first contact until it happened to me. But you got to see their ship! How was that?

Semara: Interestin'!  But I mostly saw their observation deck, a' sorts.  The others got more of a tour.  Still... Everything was alive... Sorta.  Know how a tree is mostly technically dead?  Or skin's a lotta dead cells?  Kinda like that, I think.  :: Beat :: I heard the Velithari and their ship are quite resistant to Sencha.  Get anythin' more outta them 'bout that?

Melville-Kilpatrick: Their ship's made out of the same stuff they are. Or part of it is? It's a combination, I think.

Thomas shrugged. That was why he was pretty sure Lieutenant El'Heem and the rest of the science department were going to have a fantastic time engaging with the samples they'd collected.

Semara: Huh.  You did good getting' that much.  They ain't the most trustin' sort, from what I gather, so we're lucky we learned what we did and even luckier we're still talkin'.

Thomas looked down at the sound of the completed scan alert, momentarily distracted from discussions about the Velithari.

Semara: That was quick!  :: Beat :: Gonna give Talia a run for her medical tricorder if you keep gettin' physicals done that fast.  What ya got for me?

Melville-Kilpatrick: ::slight chuckle:: Nothing to be too concerned about. I'd say get a little more rest and drink more water, but given the whole "First Contact" situation, I'll give you a bit of a pass. Just make sure it doesn't become too much of a habit.

Semara: I can do that.  I'll make sure to work in some more electrolytes durin' and after my time with B'Ella, and I'll try makin' sure I'm gettin' enough recovery... :: A long beat. :: But I was hopin' for another thing while I'm here.  I'd like a full telepathic work-up.

Thomas paused. Not that he was unfamiliar with the idea, but that it was him she wanted to perform the work-up.

It was a bit more challenging than the standard physical, not to mention the telepathy aspect. Thomas could study as hard as he wanted, in any and every textbook that Starfleet Academy had access to, but there was a big difference between understanding what a textbook said and the physical experience. He could identify a broken leg easily, but if something was off with telepathy? That was a little bit harder.

And then she'd be reading his thoughts. He didn't think of himself as someone with much to hide, but he was human. The general perspective was that thoughts were something you kept to yourself. But it was a part of his job--he'd push through whatever road blocks remained from his upbringing to make sure that she felt healthy.

Melville-Kilpatrick: Have you been having issues with your telepathy?

Semara: No, I ain't havin' any problems, but I've had several doses a' Sencha radiation now... And the serum.  I've read enough a' the science to know long-term effects on telepaths ain't fully understood yet.  I wanna be sure, if that's alright.

Thomas nodded, considering what he'd need to set up. He looked around and pulled up a chair. No point in him standing for this whole thing. He'd probably end up pacing enough to distract her.

Melville-Kilpatrick: ::a little distracted:: Yes, yes, that's fine. ::focusing:: You've done this before, I assume?

Semara: Response

Melville-Kilpatrick: Okay, great. Ah, pardon me if I'm a little rusty. In emergency medicine, telepathic work-ups are more along the lines of "can you guess the number I'm thinking of?".

Semara: Response

Melville-Kilpatrick: Right. This is a little more complicated. We could use that as a warm-up, if you prefer? ::slightly nervous chuckle:: A little bit of an ice-breaker.

Semara: Response
