(( Sickbay, Deck 6, USS Khitomer ))

In her youth, Tori learned a great deal about animal behavior from her mother.  Everything from the basic locomotion of early multicellular organisms on their various planets all the way through the dizzying and amazing complexity of large social creatures and their societies.  At some point, there was a lesson about stress responses in animals in captivity, and the incredible propensity to pace.

The fact that she was aware she was doing it now made it no better.  A security crewman's head had probably already swivelled left to right and back again at least a hundred times, tracking each pivot at the exact same two spots just to make sure she didn't touch any precious Starfleet technology or attempt to do something stupid.  Probably for the best.  She felt like doing something stupid.

After the other doctor left, she'd finished some food and water, and finally got up and started to move around because it felt good.  The problem was, the more she moved, the more she felt trapped.  Kael never showed up - probably the other doctor forgot to send for him.  The security crewman seemed intent on keeping her in sickbay for some reason.  She had energy to burn after sleeping so long, and with the IV now out, she felt about as good as she ever did.  Normally that meant it was time to get to working or fighting.

Only there was nothing to do.

She felt when Amelia left for the planet.  Their minds had brushed up against each other briefly before the distance between them widened.  Something was brewing, Tori could feel it.  She needed to be out there - she needed to help, to solve, to scheme, to fight... Anything.  Only sickbay had turned into a cage.  She was stuck.

Pacing.

Tracing over the same line in the floor with her eyes and her feet, a sort of penitent alms for the time traveler.

Again.

And again.

And again...

The doors opened, and finally she stopped and saw Talia.

Tori: Good!  Talia, you gotta get me out of here.

Ohnari: Response

Tori's eyes narrowed, and her voice sharpened, already primed to be annoyed from the way she'd been sidelined.  She couldn't even be really sure anything she'd said had gotten through to Ras or that Ensign Matthews.  For all she knew, history's timetable was going to get moved up and the Khitomer would explode senselessly over this planet any moment now when the Alliance arrived.

Tori: Come on, I travelled through time for this.  I know we're over Alpha Trionus, and the Captain's sent away teams.  You expect me to stay put and wither when there's work to be done?

She felt the glare from the security crewman shining on her like a megawatt search beacon.  Doubtless he wanted to know how she knew that, having been cooped up in here the whole time.  Well-educated guessing and inference, mostly.

Ohnari: Response

Tori: :: A scoff :: I'm fine.  :: Beat ::  Well, we both know I'm not, but I'll live for the next - what is it now? - Three days?  There's got to be some way I can help stick it to those Mik'ta.

There was no timeline where Tori would let that precious time go to waste - to let this crew fritter away what advantages and resources they had while the Alliance attack drew ever closer.  She'd done far crueler things to her body for far longer for not nearly as much.  Her whole self was wound up like a ballista, creaking to be unleashed on the person she blamed for taking everything from her, even if she herself were destroyed in the impact.

Ohnari: Response
