(( Deck 1, just outside Captain’s Office, USS Khitomer))
It was just a door. What was the big deal? She checked her uniform; not a mark on it, and there wasn’t a crease that hadn’t been ironed out of existence.
She didn’t know quite why she was nervous. She wanted to make a good impression, not like that time she had accidentally ignited biomimetic gel and blew up Professor Forrester’s new shuttle craft at the Academy. She was sure that she was going to be sent home and to this day she wasn’t quite sure how she got away with a reprimand.
o0 No gel on me today. This is going to go fine 0o
She pressed the small button that would sound a chime in the Captain’s office and waited; and waited. She looked around to make sure no one was witnessing her dilemma and gingerly pressed it once more.
What seemed like an eternity went by and then a voice from inside answered.
Naxell: Response.
She straightened up and walked through the open door. Before her sat Commander Naxell. She stood before his desk, her hands held behind her back, which was so straight she thought her spine would snap, and her look professional ( at least that is what she kept telling herself ).
Edac: Lieutenant Edac reporting as requested sir.
Naxell: Response.
Edac: Sir?
Naxell: Response.
She let her rigid stance relax and sat in the chair that faced Naxell, her hands now clasped in her lap. For a moment he said nothing looking at a readout on his desk, his face giving no clues as to either what he was reding nor his reaction to it. Eventually he looked up and smiled.
Naxell: Response.
Edac: Thank you sir, but if it’s all the same with you I would prefer a cranberry juice. I took a liking to it whilst at the Academy and to be honest I can’t stand kanar.
Naxell: Response.
