((Sickbay, Deck 6, USS Khitomer))
R. Matthews: And it would be more helpful here, seeing as I’m not sure whose still on duty to help with that in science. If you and Lieutenant Dewitt can? I really want to delve into why the packs here in sickbay were not impacted.
Ohnari: I can certainly assist, but I need to check in with acting Captain Hobart. He needs to be aware of the current status of El'Heem, but as soon as I am finished, I am going to be checking in on our Kressari patient, but I should be able to assist after.
A Dewitt: I’m just going to check in on Ras first, but any help I can be I’ll be there.
Talia nodded, reaching out she squeezed her friend's shoulder.
Ohnari: Ensign Matthews, take a break. Go sit in with Ras for a bit, I'm going to step in my office for a moment and just give Commander Hobart an update. I'll be in shortly.
R.Matthews: Response
Nodding to the two, she beelined for her office. After checking in on the snoozing Statler, who seemed no worse for wear, she collapsed in her desk chair and just sat for a moment. After it passed, she pressed her badge.
Ohnari: =/\= Commander Ohnari to Commander Hobart.
Hobart: =/\= Response
Ohnari: =/\= Do you have a moment sir? =/\=
This was the universal "Hey go find a corner for a sec" line of questioning. Wherever he was, the entire room didn't need to hear about El'Heem, that was his business. Commander Hobart however, needed to know that someone on his crew would be out of commission.
Hobart: =/\= Response
Ohnari: =/\= ::exhaling deeply, a brief crack of exhaustion slipping through:: Ras is stable. I was unable to save his right hand, from what I understand, he was attempting to bash the sensor manually, but wasn't able to prevent the probe from firing, directly into him, of course.
Hobart: =/\= Response
Ohnari: =/\= Part of the reason for my call, Ayemet, Ensign Matthews and I were exposed, we're all under mandatory quarantine until the isotopic scrubbers do their jobs. Ensign Michaels has been cleared to return to duty. We're all going to be ok, Ras has some burns I'll be treating, and...::for a moment, her eyes filled with tears. She was alone, so she let a few fall:: D-do you think it's me...? Do I somehow attract this chaos and limbs are being lost in my presence?
Was this logical? Not even a little. Should she probably be talking to Ayemet instead of the overburdened beau? Absolutely. She gazed upon her prized possession, Aramand, freshly oiled and resting atop the velvet pillow. It all started with random happenstance...But emotions never listened to logic. And in that moment, he wasn't just Nolen...he was acting Captain Nolen, and she was a woebegone Chief Medical Officer in need of a pep talk.
Hobart: =/\= Response?
Or...that. That worked too.
((OOC - Happy to continue as long as you'd like))
Once she had finished updating the acting Captain, and getting a little endorphin boost, she did as she promised and made her way into Recovery three. Her previously elevated mood dipped right back down as she looked upon her friend. She could hear the blips of the monitors. For a moment, she just took it all in.
Ohnari: How are you hanging in, Ayemet?
A Dewitt: I’m fine. I am going to sit here and keep my favourite Kressari company
El’Heem/R Matthews: Response
Nodding, Talia again just leaned against the wall, watching her weird little chosen family. After a few moments, she decided to move forward with the treatment. Taking out a jar from her pocket, she opened the jar and gave a cautious sniff.
A Dewitt:Hhm? What? Oh sorry mind was elsewhere.
Ohnari : Oh, I was just saying this salve that Ras made is....herbaceously pungent...I really hope I grabbed the right jar and I'm not about to smear some new fertilizer or salad dressing on his burns...
Ras being Kressari, and just a straight up brilliant biologist, had crafted for her a salve for her infected leg wound. With his help, it had prevented the loss of the limb, as well as healing the infection in record time. Afterwards, the two had discussed alternative options for treating surface radiation burns. The existing treatments were often harsh, and had some unpleasant side effects.
While he was the expert, Talia had ordered any botanicals they hadn't already had access to, and during down time, they had played a bit with various formulas. She began applying the salve, once again praying she hadn't just grabbed the man's lunch from the cooler.
A Dewitt: Never mind that, how are you doing?
Ohnari: Me or him? ::she smirked playfully:: I'm not sure if I said it before, but we are all essentially quarantined in Sickbay until the radiation scans negative. The devices, and this room of course, prevent any cross contamination, but until that light on the device turns green, Ayement, and Ensign Matthews, you'll need to stay within Sickbay.
El'Heem/R.Matthews: Response
A Dewitt: If it’s not Connor shoving his hand into consoles then it’s you punching probes. Is it some male bravado thing?
Talia snorted. There had been a few wine nights where the women complained about loving engineers and their constant need to shove their bare, unprotected hands in consoles and wiring that they really should use tools for.
Ohnari: ::jokingly patting the man's shoulder:: Well we still think you're plenty manly. ::narrowing her eyes:: Never do it again.
El'Heem/R.Matthews: Response
A Dewitt: You did what was necessary. You saved lives.
Ohnari: She's not wrong. But you still put yourself at incredible risk. ::rolling her eyes, she tossed up her hands:: I know, I know, I'm doing the lecture thing again. I owe a credit to the jar.
It started as a joke. Mainly when Zenno had referred to Talia as "Space Mom", which then turned into "Doctor Space Mom", and every time she was caught being overly cautious and her voice took a certain cadance, she was to put a credit in the jar. Metaphorical jar, metaphorical credit, but if she did it enough, she owed the entire staff a round of drinks. To be fair, she always bought them a round, but with it feeling like a penalty, they stopped being weird about her picking up the tab so much.
