((Deck 12, USS Khitomer, en route to Lagoon Nebula))
Juliet finished entering the reconfiguration for Lab Three’s data storage protocol and flourished a little “ta-da!” at the console to put a bow on the last five minutes of infodumping at poor Lieutenant Semara, who was… giving her a little round of applause? Okay, maybe it hadn’t been too much. She smiled back at Amelia, laughing a little at herself.
Semara: Very impressive, Ensign. :: Another laugh. :: First, do me a favor, and breathe, please?
Banks: Yes ma’am! ::a grin, and a showy, noisy inhale:: Breathing as ordered, ma’am!
Semara: :: A little chuckle. :: Thanks. Were startin' to stress me out there. :: Beat. :: Second, you're an Ensign. I get if you're feelin' odd 'bout it, but you get to delegate. :: A little smile :: Sounds like Commander Dewitt needs your help. So find Crewman Kent, show him what needs doin', set up what he can't, and then get to your own work, okay?
Juliet blinked, and a look of dawning realisation crossed her face.
Banks: You’re right… that bit of “I’m not a Cadet any more!” hadn’t sunk in yet. Thank you.
She gave the other woman a grateful smile, appreciating the nudge, and Amelia responded with a reassuring shoulder squeeze.
Semara: Relax, Juliet. It's real easy gettin' swept up in the energy at the start of a mission. 'Specially your first. Pace yourself. Keep your head up and eyes open. Ain't no tellin' what'll happen when we arrive. You'll want your wits about you.
Banks: I remember the tail end of our last visit to the nebula all too clearly… ::nodding:: I see what you mean.
Semara: Great. Now hop to it, Ensign! ::leaning in:: And seriously. Thanks for the tips. 'Preciate all of it.
Banks: Hey, I’m just glad I could help. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do.
She wagged the PADD in her hand for emphasis and then, looking down, realised that it needed to accompany Amelia to Engineering. Still, the data on it might be needed for Ops as well, so… with a couple of taps she copied the main data across to her own PADD, and then proffered the original back to Amelia.
Banks: I’m off to Deflector Control with Commander Dewitt, but Lieutenant Michaels is still working on the gel pack situation. You’re heading to Main Engineering – could you drop this off if they need it?
She handed the PADD over, and gave Amelia a nod of leave-taking and gratitude both.
Banks: And – thanks for the advice. I appreciate it.
And then, realising she was still probably keeping Commander Dewitt waiting, it was off to the turbolift and onwards to Deflector Control.
Which was… where, exactly?
Sighing, she raised her PADD and brought up deck plans again as she stepped into the turbolift. At this rate she’d have finally the layout of the Khitomer about a week before getting transferred somewhere else. Finding what she needed, she hit the control for deck fifteen, and tapped her combadge to pass on instructions to Crewman Kent.
