((Near the probe, USS Ouchita))
Semara: :: unmuting comms :: =/\= Still here, Ouachita. Be advised we think we got readin's consistent with the emitter preppin' to fire. I reckon' you got another ninety seconds or so to do whatever you're doin' and get out. =/\=
Jenna immediately looked to the Vulcan who looked like she had just woken up to the realization that her alarm had not gone off and she was an hour late for duty.
Michaels: =/\= Great. Michaels out. =/\=
As the Trill wanted to suggest something, Michaels already started to act, cutting her thoughts off.
Michaels: =/\= Michaels to Lt. El'Heem. Ras. Stop what you're doing and get back to the access hatch. Khitomer believes the device is going to fire in approximately a minute. We have to switch to plan B. =/\=
El'Heem: =/\= ::groaning between breaths:: Shit, Michaels. Okay. Okay. How? =/\=
Michaels: =/\= If the probe does not know how to target or fire, it can not do either one. Unclamp the gel packs and pull them out. Do not... I repeat ... do not touch the isolinear chips. Think of it as brain surgery on the probe. No pressure. You have slightly more than sixty seconds. =/\= ::To Prix.:: In thirty seconds, we will need to get Ras back inside and move out of the danger zone. Get as close to Lt. El'Heem as you can comfortably. We are going to have to retrieve him in record time.
Jenna nodded and turned around again to approach the probe, simultaneously preparing the transporters to get the doctor out of there quickly and somewhere he could be treated. The short range would probably allow a transport, maybe even through the interference to Khitomer’s sickbay.
El’Heem: =/\= ::stilling breathing laboriously:: Right. Brain surgery. With a broken hand. ::swallowing hard:: Easy. =/\=
The next seconds felt like ages as Lera and Jenna could not do much but wait for Ras to successfully conduct the life-saving task.
Prix: I will try to beam him directly to sickbay… give me a count-down on the firing cycle…
Michaels: Response
The transporters could lock onto Ras’ communicator and isolate his body from the nursery. That was a good sign. With a couple of button taps, Jenna increased the energy to transporters.
Prix: Well make it as precise as you can…
Michaels: Response
As she listened to the cooldown, Jenna’s hand hovered over the transporter controls as her eyes observed Ras’ work on the probe. One gel-pack had been unlocked and removed and the Kressari was working on the second one.
Michaels: Response
And as the second gel-pack was removed from the probe’s casing and Michaels countdown reached zero, Jenna pressed the commands for the transport. It was only a fraction of a second that she could see the blue shimmer of the transporter beam disintegrating Ras before a bright light filled her view screen.
With an affirming beep the computer reported the successful transfer of Lieutenant Ras El’Heem to Khitomer’s sickbay. They did not know what state he would arrive in, but he was safe. Hopefully. The Ouchita on the other hand was not safe, yet.
The stored energy within the probe had to go somewhere. The directional disruptor beam was not fired, but the energy dissipated in all directions. The runabout’s computer raised the shields a little too late to soften the full blow. The first part of the dissipated energy caused Jenna’s console to spark. From the noise, lights and smell around her, she suspected it was not the only one as she raised her hands in front of her face to cover her from any sparks flying into her direction. The runabout tumbled and shook under the tremor of the energy discharge.
After a second or two, the show was over and she looked at her deactivated console and then to Michaels and then to the probe.
Prix: =/\= Ouchita to Khitomer Bridge, Engineering and Sickbay. We transported Lieutenant El’Heem to sickbay. The energy discharge hit us hard… We will try to return to Khitomer shortly. Ouchita out.=/\=
Michaels: Response
The Trill nodded. That was a good idea. She hit her communicator again.
Prix: =/\= Ouchita to Bridge. Do you read? =/\=
Hobart: =/\= Response =/\=
Prix: =/\= The probe seems deactivated… Do you want… ::pause:: Should we get it back to the Khitomer? =/\=
Hobart/Michaels: =/\= Response =/\=
