Michaels: Thank you, sir. :: beat :: I will remember this lesson in leadership.
The Captain's smile mimicked her own as they shook hands. She nodded slightly, pivoted carefully... falling over on the stage would not be a good sign... dancing and jumping up and down could wait... and walked back to where Ezra and Amelia were sitting.
Semara: Congratulations!!! Lieutenant :: A huge grin. ::

Lera fingered the extra pip.
Michaels: Ezra. Tell me that this is a real pip. It feels real.
Zerva: Response.
Michaels: ::so softly that the words were scarcely audible. :: Yes! ::normal tome :: I will have to let my parents know about this. And my sister. And Puja.
She turned to Ezra, no longer attempting to stifle the smile.
Michaels: It appears that you no longer outrank me. :: silent chuckle:: At least for the next few minutes.

Lera attention returned to the stage. She stood as she applauded El'Heem's promotion.
Ohnari: Thank you, Captain, Ras El'Heem, while I may no longer be your superior, it brings me great joy to.... ::slightly strained:: It is my honor to...::her words trailed off, again in that impossibly high octave.::
El’Heem: ::whispering:: Breathe, doctor. We’ve been in tougher situations together.

Hobart: Lieutenant El’Heem. ::opening the box, handing it to El’Heem:: You have served this ship and its crew for more than a year, and in that time you have made yourself invaluable to us, officer and enlisted alike. ::removing the half-pip:: We look to you now as a leader among leaders, with all the respect and expectations that come with it. ::applying the full pip:: The men and women under you will rely upon your experience, good and ill, and the men and women above you will continue to see you as an ever-greater partner in command. Moments later the three of them had joined the others around Ras. Of course, it was Amelia who got there first.

Michaels: Congratulations, Ras. This ceremony would have been a pale shadow of itself if you had not been promoted.

El’Heem: ::clasping his hands together and shaking them on either side of his head before laughing:: thank you! Thank you all! I couldn’t have done it without you!
Semara: Okay, maybe I'm a bit relieved Richard's gonna be your problem and not mine :: A big laugh. ::
El'Heem: Oh, Richard will still be your problem, you just don’t get to punish him anymore!

Michaels: Miss Semara has outdone herself this time. I only regret that I had to limit myself to three of them.

The ceremony was over and all that remained was the congratulating, the eating, and the enjoying the holographic picnic that Semara had prepared for them. Lera and Ezra trailed the others as they headed toward the tables with the food.
Michaels: Ezra. I do not wish to discard this opportunity to be with our friends but... I was thinking that it might be a good idea to take advantage of this setting... this sunset.
Zerva: Response
Michaels: It is a holodeck. Perhaps we could create a blanket, a bottle of some appropriate wine, get some food. :: beat and another glance at Ezra ::and settle down somewhere less crowded and enjoy... the scenery.
She paused to let the innuendo settle in. Of course, a holodeck with several hundred of your closest friends was almost no one's idea of a romantic setting.
