((Airlock, Deck 16, USS Khitomer))
Melville-Kilpatrick: I imagine we'd want to keep it contained as much as we could. That doesn't give us a ton of options for testing. Does it?
Naxell: We'll be freer in the lab, not to fret, Ensign.
A shipwide comm made Thomas jump.
Zerva: =/\= Attention all hands, attention. This is Lieutenant Zerva. I have been advised to issue a shipwide security advisory. The nearby nebula is emitting nearly invisible filaments that have been located on the bridge and engineering. Use the sensor data uploaded by Ensign Morda in the ship's computer to locate them. Avoid direct contact and do not touch them. Send your findings directly to engineering, where we have set up a monitoring station to coordinate with the XO and all departments. =/\=
Naxell: It sounds like our threads are appearing elsewhere. We should be careful when returning to the science lab.
Melville-Kilpatrick: ::glancing around:: It would be nicer if we could see them.
It was a fairly obvious statement, but Thomas wasn't expecting aliens on the offense to go easy on them. He focused on scooping up the dust and hoping that it wouldn't explode onto them. The sooner they figured this all out, the better.
Naxell: ::awkwardly screwing a cap over one plate:: Two more should do it. Then I'll need your help to brush off the suit.
Melville-Kilpatrick: Got it. I really, really hope we can get this stuff sorted. How bad do you think it is?
Thomas bent over to scoop more dust carefully into a plate. He couldn't imagine what the positives could be for such a substance, but the sooner they understood it the easier that would get.
Naxell: I don't think the dust is hazardous, but I have no way to be sure. We need to get my suit as clean as possible before I take it off.
Thomas stood up and brushed his own hands off.
Melville-Kilpatrick: Better to be safe than sorry, sir. This way, then?
Thomas waited for an okay before they got started with the suit cleaning and de-dusting. Then it was a careful inspection for anything lingering on the suit--Thomas was perhaps a little overcautious in his efforts, seeing anything that wasn't clearly part of the suit as a potential threat.
Naxell: Response
Melville-Kilpatrick: You should be good to go.
Naxell: Response
Melville-Kilpatrick: I don't think I missed anything...maybe lift up your arm?
