((Lab 3, Science, Deck 16, USS Khitomer, enroute to the Lagoon Nebula))
El’Heem: Baseline’s in place. How are we looking?
R. Matthews: :: Not looking up from the PADD he was reviewing :: Distinguished, without looking like we’re trying hard to look this good.
Finishing his review, he looked up, flashing Ras a small grin.
R. Matthews: Now, if we’re talking about what we’re working on — we’re making progress with the setup. Sixteen of the thirty-two packs are seated. And honestly, from what I’m monitoring, things are looking fine. I’m just making sure that this circuit is completely closed. To avoid possibly impacting the Khitomer’s systems.
Reaching out, he made to knock on the nearest table-top. But stopped himself. It wasn’t real wood.
Least he hadn’t said, ‘nothing could go wrong!’
El’Heem: Once the rest of the packs are loaded, I’ll head to sickbay and requisition that suppressors from Chief Ohnari. Do you have the power gradient tuned for each row?
Yes, he did, after sitting up the isolated grid with little fanfare. Semara sneaking off to places unknown and not reporting back with any help from Banks, had given him the opportunity to flex his new engineering skills. Skills he was still honing. That was why he was doing the third check to make sure what he had rigged up really was coordinated off from the rest of the ship. Individual power sources and computer systems were all green, no matter how hard he looked.
Dang, he was good.
A red warning flashed on his PADD and Richard quickly checked and tweaked a string of code. Then it was all green again.
See? He was good.
R. Matthews: :: Pointing to the physical setup :: I do, but I was thinking we might want a little extra control. There are dials for each station that we can use to moderate the energy flow. We can stimulate different operating levels to record what are safe levels of operation. At least, I think we can. :: Shrugging, he gave Ras a ‘what can you do’ look :: Even with the different shielding and the inhibitors we’re testing. I’d feel better if we had a few more options for protection. It isn’t much. But maybe we can figure out a save zone for the gel packs to operate at.
El’Heem: I can’t be the only one feeling antsy about this return. ::trailing off::
R. Matthews: Meh, if I let myself be worried about going back to the places I’ve almost died. I’d never get to go anywhere. :: He frowned :: Not that I’m saying that I’m not a little worried. That would be foolish. But it doesn’t do us any good getting hung up on the fact that we’re going right back to there.
El’Heem: Maybe it’s some sort of penance.
R. Matthews: I have never don’t a bad thing a day in my life, and do not deserve these trials and tribulations.
El’Heem: Response
R. Matthews: Are we waiting for Semara before we start blowing things up?
El’Heem: Response
R. Matthews: Hmmm, yes, and -
Ohnari: =/\= Chief Medical Officer to all crew, please report to Sickbay prior to our arrival to the Lagoon nebula. Due to time constraints, we will also have a mobile vaccination station in Main Engineering, and on the bridge. ::pausing:: And yes, I do mean everyone. Ohnari out. =/\=
R. Matthews: Huh, we’re not administering medication via the ventilation system this time? I wonder if they have a new dosage worked out then. Oh! Do you think they’ll give us a pump to administer the medication?
El’Heem: Response
R. Matthews: Looks like we’re both headed to medical then. Lead the way.
El’Heem: Response
TAGS/TBC (Gonna see if Ras has the time to get a shot on screen or off, didn't want to add to the plate with things to write. IRL is busy right now.))
