(( Deck 5, Holodeck 1, USS Khitomer))

Ayemet exited from the turbo lift that had carried her from the Counselor suite on deck 6 to deck 5 . It was only one level, and on a ship that carried hundreds of crew that was hardly worth noting. It had seemed to take forever though.  Connor had ‘requested her prescience’ at holodeck one, and she had gratefully closed the padd she had been working from and left at once.

She had been glad of the excuse to stop reading through the crew files  and medical reports and even gladder that that reason had involved Connor.  They had had precious little time together since her return and even though he had said he was working on the holodeck matrix it would be nice to be by his side offering the occasional nod and exclamation of support.

The doors to the holodeck glided open with the familiar sound and Ayemet I felt a small flutter in her heart as she saw not only a picnic of some sort laid out on a blanket but the scene; the lake. It meant everything.

Jacin :an eyebrow arched in playful skepticism: Working on the holodeck matrix!?

Dewitt: I am doing important maintenance on the holodeck power grid! Don’t judge me.

She laughed. A light lyrical laugh. A laugh she never thought she would be able to utter again. Walking towards her fiancé she shook her head and smiled, placing a hand on his shoulder

Jacin: What is this? A surprise date?

Dewitt: I thought this would be a good place to go over the wedding plans again. But sure, let’s call it a date. ::waving:: come on.

She sat down next to him, looking at him. Their path to finding each other had not been an easy one; for either of them, but every moment spent with him made it worth it. Every word, every touch, was a moment of perfection frozen in time.

Jacin : smiling and she kisses her: This is perfect. You are perfect.

She watched as he took out several items  from a container and  put them carefully on the blanket. She cheekily took a piece of cheese and began nibbling it, never letting her gaze leave his face.

Every day spent in the Sheliak facility had taken moments like this from her until they were just a memory, a partially remembered dream, and now here was one such moment, real and wonderfully true.

Dewitt: My mum prepared a schedule. ::holding his hands up:: And before you protest, they do that with every wedding they host. This is ::drawing quotation marks:: no different.

Ayemet sat back a mild sense of alarm running across her mind. Until recently she had had no relationship with her Mother. In a way she had thought of herself as a king of emotional orphan.  Certainly the idea of becoming a part of a family that not only spent time with each other but actually wanted to, was  almost incomprehensible, and now she was joining that family; and there was a schedule!

Jacin: :dryly: There’s never a Sheliak prison around when you need one.

Dewitt: Response.

Jacin: :protesting gently: Connor it’s terrifying enough meeting all your family! Being part of it. Now there’s a schedule!?

Dewitt: Response.

She put an arm round his shoulders and hugged him. One of the many things she loved about him was his emotional side. He was almost the only person where even though his emotions were strong and reverberated against her empathic mind she never felt assailed by them. They felt ‘right’.

Jacin: Hey mister there is nothing and I mean nothing that is going to stop me

marrying you. Not after all we’ve been through. It’s just that well :pause: what if I’m not good enough? what if I let you down and I mess up the schedule?

Dewitt: Response.

She looked up and him and picked up a grape, popping it in his mouth, and then kissing him firmly but tenderly on the lips.

Jacin: Okay. I believe you,  I guess.

Dewitt: Response.
