Finally within reliable comm range, according to a very helpful crewman aboard the Belfast, Alix pulled out her PADD and scrolled through her contacts. She was embarrassed to admit that she’d had to ask Maddie for the information of their mutual friend from the Academy. In her defense, Alix and Amelia had been in the same circle but weren’t all that close. Still, it would be nice to know someone in her new crew and she could do with seeing a friendly smile when she arrived at Deep Space 33. If there was one thing she remembered about Amelia, it was that she always had a friendly smile to spare. That and the fact that Amelia’s apple pie was better than her mother’s. Not that Alix could safely admit that aloud.
As the line trilled waiting to open, Alix thought about the daunting task ahead of her. She’d just barely been out of the Academy for a year and already she was having to integrate into her third crew since graduation. Transient life was one thing, but this revolving door of connections had not been something Alix had prepared for. When the line opened, she smiled shyly at the screen.
Harford: Hello, Amelia. Do you remem- ::interrupted::

Alix smiled awkwardly at the blonde woman’s enthusiasm. She was relieved to be remembered, and even happy at the Betazoid’s exuberant reply, but Alix had never been one to gush, squeal, giggle, or in other ways emphatically express joy. Amelia, on the other hand, was joy encapsulated.
Harford: Good to see you. It’s been ::pause:: a little while. ::guilty smile::

Harford: I just wanted to call and see if you’d be up for reconnecting over lunch or something on Deep Space 33. I’m on my way there now.
