Zerva: Thank you. ::gestures to Lera:: You remember Ensign Michaels from engineering. ::gestures to Banks:: And this here is our new Helmsman, Ensign Banks. She’s the one who piloted us out Hobart’s Hol… er the nebula. ::pulls out a chair for Lera:: Right here okay?
Michaels: That will be fine.
Banks: Hello! Please, call me Juliet.
R. Matthews: Hey, nice to meet ya.

Zerva: ::takes a seat next to Lera:: A desert menu Richard? Already? You’re not thinking about skipping on some delicious garden food now, are you? ::takes a menu:: I see you’ve got a milkshake already. As much as I’d like one, I think some tea would be nice.
Lera sat holding the menu. The offerings included several Terran dishes as well as others from other worlds. Her eyes immediately went to the Vulcan section. As unfamiliar with Vulcan cuisine as she was, none of them appealed much. There were several Terran dishes that she knew well, and she focused on those. What was it her father had said? "The further you are from the Mexican border, the worse the Mexican food is." Many dishes were familiar, and how badly could you mess up an enchilada? And a few surprises. Doubles? They had doubles? The Mellow Mushroom was looking better all the time. She put the menu down and dropped her hands to her side.
R. Matthews: Yeah, this might be a dessert kind of night for me, so starting off strong.
He brought the straw to his lips and took a sip while everyone situated themselves. Avoiding, as best he could, accidentally offending anyone by saying outright. ‘I’m not the biggest veggie fan and would rather eat junk food.’

Zerva: ::looks at the menu, speaking to everyone:: Any recommendations?
She felt fingers touching hers, and she quickly interlaced her fingers with Ezra's. She gently rubbed his index finger with her thumb. She leaned slightly toward him.
Michaels: ::whispering: I am right-handed. This will make eating a bit more difficult.
He started to pull away, but she gripped his hand firmly enough that he would have no thought that she was rejecting his gesture. He did not pull away again.

Sometime during the general chaos that was a group of work friends getting together after hours. The waiter approached. Richard almost didn’t notice them. They blended into the psychedelic background.
Mattia: ::Italian accent:: Hello. My name is Mattia. I am your server for today. Can I get you all started with some drinks or would you like to wait for the rest of your party?
Michaels: Do you have Curaçao?
Mattia: But of course. Do you prefer the blue or the orange?
Michaels: The blue, please.
Banks: Could I get a … hmm. A carbonated yuzu juice with Yridian cucumber?
Mattia: One Barbonated yuzu juice with Yridian. Anything else?
R. Matthews / Ras / Croix / C. Matthews / Banks / Zerva / Any: Response
Michaels: Curaçao is a liqueur made from oranges originally on the island of Curaçao. And trust me about this one thing. You do not want to get into a drinking competition with a Vulcan. Ethanol has almost no effect on us. I find the taste of Curaçao to be pleasing.
R. Matthews: Did not know that, about what the drink was or where it was made. :: He took another sip of his shake :: Did know about the ‘don’t try to out drink a Vulcan’ bit. Not from personal experience. But I’ve seen a few foolish cadets try it.
Michaels: It is highly probable that they will not attempt that feat again.
Others ordered drinks and the walking houseplant waiter vanished into the camouflage of the restaurant.

Banks: So, er, hi! ::a smile:: It’s nice to meet you. What should I call you?
R. Matthews: I find calling someone by their name works. :: He glanced over at Charles :: Though sometimes that can get confusing.
Lera could never understand that confusion. There were two Dewitts on Khitomer. The idea of confusing Ayemet for Connor was inconceivable.

R. Matthews: Richard, nice to meet you, Banks. Right now, just call me that, I’ve had enough pomp and ceremony to last me for at least shore leave.

A moment later, the waiter returned with beverages. Lera hesitated only a moment before holding up the small glass of sapphire blue liquid.
Michaels: I would like to propose a toast. To the success of our ship, our success of our ongoing friendships, and to those who are not with us here today whether because of other appointments, duties or more permanent circumstances.
Ras / Croix / C. Matthews / Banks / Zerva / Michaels / Any: Response
After the clink of glasses, Lera sat back down and wondered briefly if that toast had somehow been inappropriate. It did not matter. If it was a mistake, it was done and in the past. She gave a slight smile at Ezra and looked at her menu again.
Mattia: If everyone is ready to order?
Michaels: I will have the spinach enchiladas with rice and charro beans. I also have a question.
Mattia: Yes, ma'am.
Michaels: The menu list Doubles. Is the chef who prepares those from Trinidad?
Mattia: That particular chef is from Earth. The Caribbean region if I remember correctly. Shall I ask her?
Michaels: It is not important as long as they are made with fry bread and chickpeas. I will also have one doubles, plenty pepper.
