(( Deck 6, Sickbay, USS Khitomer))

It was just another average day in Starfleet, sitting in an isolation room, holding hands with her future son from a future they were actively trying to prevent.

Wait.

Well?

Semi-normal. Things always got weird with time travel. But Talia was talking with Kael. Trying very hard not to grill him about every moment of his childhood so she could prepare, research, figure out what she certainly did wrong, and fix it. In the case they couldn't change the outcome, and in about twelve-ish years she and Connor were going to somehow get together and make him. Amelia had called over the comm asking about Tori. After reassuring her as best she could on an open commline, she turned her focus back to Kael.

Ohnari: Tori is ok, but I want to make sure she's better than ok. You and the Admiral as well...the long term exposure to radiation and what I assume is a lack of fully stocked and up to date medical interventions...well, I am sure none of this is shocking to you.

Kael: I trust you Mom.

Again, a quaking sort of awareness washed over her. How she hoped she would earn his confidence. Except, it was more like confidence in the other her. The older one. For a moment, she was tempted to ask how grey her hair had become...but again better leave it unknown.

Ohnari: ::brittle smile:: Well...you trust the older me. I hope current me can maintain my image.

Her hands were shaking. She nearly dropped the tricorder attachment twice.

Kael: :gently: It’s going to be okay Mom.

It was almost strange how quickly that calmed her. All the small little anxieties seemed...so trivial.

Ohnari:  ::winking playfully:: Thanks Kid. ::exhaling deeply:: I...really hope we prevent a war. ::wincing:: Although if we do that....are we looking at massive, drastic changes...? Like...um....oO How do I say "you"? Oo Your and Tori's existence....

Smooth.

Kael: I don’t know. Maybe we will simply fade away or maybe we’ll simply create an alternate time line , or return to a future that we don’t come from. Temporal mechanics was never my strong point.

Ohnari: ::snorting:: Mine either. Your dad tried explaining one time...however we were um...you know what? I don't remember enough of that night other than him and Nolen getting into a debate about slipstream drives and Ayemet and I just kind of ignored them and kept up with the cocktails. And then there was the time that your father and I decided to start a business venture involving Pasta and Risa and....::she was nervous again, and rambling.:: I mean...

Suddenly things were blurry around the edges of her vision. She realized in that moment that almost all her bonding experiences with Connor involved either drinking, or near death. And a few times, both. They were going to make terrible parents. A few tears of panic escaped, brushing them away quickly, she had a pre-loaded hypo ready and injected swiftly.

Talia was spiraling again. And it seemed her son was fully aware. His hands grasped her shaking ones. She squeezed back and blinked furiously to clear her vision once again.

Kael: I don’t want to die Mom, none of us do but if we can stop all of this, your friend Ayemet, that guy you were sweet on, dying: holding her by the shoulders: If there’s even a small chance of preventing all of that, isn’t it worth at least trying?

"That Guy" being the first officer. And Connor's best friend. Could this situation get any more awkward? Deciding it was best not to ask... least Ayemet have some lost sibling she would have a torrid affair with before Connor or something...she sat back down and wrapped both arms around the adult version of her future child.

Ohnari: ::sardonic smile:: You wouldn't be mine or Connor's son if you didn't have that mentality...::snorting:: Sorry kid. Both parents are shameless do-gooders. ::sniffing again for a moment:: I don't know what is going to happen. ::squeezing:: But, I am very glad I've had a chance to meet you...What Gin-er...Admiral Lacy suggested can't be the only option...::sighing:: I guess that's everyone is working on as we speak.

Kael: Response

Releasing Kael, she stood, unable to resist once again trying to smooth his hair.

Ohnari: Tori is in the next room, once she is done speaking with Lieutenant El'Heem and Ensign Matthews, you can go in with her. ::her eyes narrowed:: Clothes stay ON! And absolutely no "under the blanket stuff". Please. For the sake of your future mother's sanity.

Kael: Response

((OOC ~ Happy to call it here or continue))

With that, Talia reluctantly left, closing the door behind her. She had some marrow serum to replicate. Which meant finding Othin and giving her own sample, then spending some time in the lab. She was lamenting the departure of Doctor Harford extra hard. It was going to be a very long day and possibly night in the lab.

Making her way towards the main Sickbay, she noticed a uniform that indicated Medical, but neither the face or emotional imprint matched with her memory...had she forgotten something....majorly important? A ping on her PADD indicated the Captain had transferred a new file to her.

Ensign Thomas Melville-Kilpatrick: Medical officer.

Her legs felt jelly again, would it be a terrible first impression to tackle-hug the newly arrived physician and thank the Gods between sobs that she had been sent help?

Yes. it would. It was best to ease the new ones into her...unique department management style. Instead, she gave herself a little shake and walked forward.

Ohnari: Hello there, are you Ensign Melville-Kilpatrick by any chance...?

Melville-Kilpatrick: Response

In her head, she was squealing. Outwardly, she probably looked a little bug-eyed and possibly mild vibrating.

It had been a long day.

Ohnari: Ensign your timing is a gift from the Gods themselves. I'm Lieutenant Commander Talia Ohnari, current Chief Medical Officer.

Wincing, she realized adding the "current" part was just...weird. There were a lot of tenses floating around with the arrival of their new guests, and she was losing track. And who knows? If Ras needed to sedate her and toss her in a supply closet, the "current" part would be accurate. Best to cover all the bases.

Melville-Kilpatrick: Response

Ohnari: ::beaming:: Wonderful! Oh...uh, I am terribly sorry, but I have the absolute worst welcome aboard present...You see, we've had a nasty time trying to combat the constant Sencha Radiation saturation so...Well, what's your opinion on gluteal injections?

Melville-Kilpatrick: Response
