to USS Khitomer – StarBase 118 Star Trek PBEM RPG
((Outside Ras’s quarters, Room 143, Deck 14, USS Khitomer, Docked at DS33))

Michaels: My mother always says "Everybody and everything has someone or something that loves it. So I don't have to." Do not ask me why that reminds me but Juliet said you were particularly helpful on the Bridge.:: To Banks:: You may not be aware but Ezra is a Security officer. :: back to Ezra :: What did you do? Do not leave out any important details.

Zerva: Well, with Lieutenant Semara’s encouragement, I was able to scrap some parts together from various equipment we had available on the bridge. We used those parts to make a sensor device. One that could boost the sensor signal's range since the ship's sensors were not fully functional. We named it the MacZerva Device. It was used at the end of the mission to help us escape the nebula. That was right before the console went off in front of me. If I hadn’t jumped in the way, Semara might have been the one in sickbay instead of me or maybe both of us? The whole thing will be in my final briefing logs, once I sit down to write it up. ::rolls his eyes:: Just when I thought it was safe to ignore my work on shore leave, I’m reminded that my security work never ends.

Michaels: A major engineering project under pressure? Perhaps I should see about getting you a transfer to Engineering.

Banks: Response?

Zerva: I did what anyone else would to protect a crewmate. I’m sure you would have done the same.

Michaels: Obviously.

Banks: Response?

Zerva: ::chuckles:: As for the MacZerva, you’re assuming I can remember what parts I used and how I did it. If I can remember it all, I was debating if I should publish the instructions in Science or Engineering Weekly?

Michaels: A major engineering project under pressure and you do not remember how you did it? :: she shakes her head:: I could probably determine what you did if I can have some time to analyse it.

Banks: Response?

Zerva: Good idea. ::checks the time on his PADD:: Ras should be finished soon.

Michaels: We will make this outing successful. There is little doubt of that.

Banks: Response

((Brief Timeskip. Ventral Ring Beta Module, Mellow Mushroom, Deep Space 33))

The word "garish" sprang to mind as Lera and the others stepped into the restaurant. Perhaps the owners had decided not to repair it after all the carnage caused by the Sheliak and the Tholians. Just throw some paint here and there and hope that the clients would survive being blinded by the clashing colors long enough to order something. Still, she decided that the purpose of the visit was not to admire someone's bizarre sense of interior decorating but to have a nice meal, and enjoy each other's company away from the ship. Ezra had chosen this place, and she would do her best to enjoy it.

Bolian Hostess: Welcome to Mellow Mushroom. ::does a quick count:: Will that be four today?

Zerva: We have a reservation, under Zerva. ::whispers to the group:: I found this place on the station's directory. It’s got 4.5 out of 5 stars. The one bad review was from a Klingon who complained the vegetables were not alive enough for their taste. ::snickers:: Do they even have vegetables on Kronos?

Michaels: Of course they have vegetables. Can you not see them? "Today is a good day for this tomato to die an honorable death." That assumes they do not define bloodworms as vegetables.

El’Heem / Croix / C. Matthews / Banks / Zerva / Any: Response

Bolian Hostess: Yes of course. Right this way. We have one of your party that arrived just before you. Your server’s name is Mattia.

((OCC Mattia is Italian for Matthew. Sorry not sorry, I couldn’t resist))

They followed the hostess through a surprisingly large crowd as she led them to a large table apart from the others with a single man sitting there.

Zerva: ::waves to Richard:: Hey, thanks for getting us the table. ::gestures to Ras:: Look who I brought along with me.

El’Heem / Croix / C. Matthews / Banks / Any: Response

Michaels: Greetings, Mr. Matthews. You are looking well.

R. Matthews: Hey, glad you could make it! Grab a seat and a menu!

Zerva: Thank you. ::gestures to Lera:: You remember Ensign Michaels from engineering. ::gestures to Banks:: And this here is our new Helmsman, Ensign Banks. She’s the one who piloted us out of Hobart’s Hol… er the nebula. ::pulls out a chair for Lera:: Right here okay?

Michaels: That will be fine.

Lera smiled as she sat and scooted the chair up to the table.

R. Matthews / El’Heem / Croix / C. Matthews / Banks / Zerva / Any: Response

Zerva: ::takes a seat next to Lera:: A desert menu, Richard? Already? You’re not thinking about skipping on some delicious garden food now, are you? ::takes a menu:: I see you’ve got a milkshake already. As much as I’d like one, I think some tea would be nice.

Lera sat holding the menu. The offerings included several Terran dishes as well as others from other worlds. Her eyes immediately went to the Vulcan section. As unfamiliar with Vulcan cuisine as she was, none of them appealed much. There were several Terran dishes that she knew well, and she focused on those. What was it her father had said? "The further you are from the Mexican border, the worse the Mexican food is." Many dishes were familiar, and how badly could you mess up an enchilada? And a few surprises. Doubles? They had doubles? The Mellow Mushroom was looking better all the time. She put the menu down and dropped her hands to her side.

R. Matthews / El’Heem / Croix / C. Matthews / Banks / Zerva / Michaels / Any: Response

Zerva: ::looks at the menu, speaking to everyone:: Any recommendations?

She felt fingers touching hers, and she quickly interlaced her fingers with Ezra's. She gently rubbed his index finger with her thumb. She leaned slightly toward him.

Michaels: ::whispering: I am right-handed. This will make eating a bit more difficult.

He started to pull away, but she gripped his hand firmly enough that he would have no thought that she was rejecting his gesture. He did not pull away again.

R. Matthews / Ras / Croix / C. Matthews / Banks / Zerva / Any: Response

The waiter approached, looking even more like a walking houseplant than before.

Mattia: ::Italian accent:: Hello. My name is Mattia. I am your server for today. Can I get you all started with some drinks or would you like to wait for the rest of your party?

Michaels: Do you have Curaçao?

Mattia: But of course. Do you prefer the blue or the orange?

Michaels: The blue, please.

R. Matthews / Ras / Croix / C. Matthews / Banks / Zerva / Any: Response

Michaels: Curaçao is a liqueur made from oranges originally on the island of Curaçao. And trust me about this one thing. You do not want to get into a drinking competition with a Vulcan. Ethanol has almost no effect on us. I find the taste of Curacao to be pleasing.

R. Matthews / Ras / Croix / C. Matthews / Banks / Zerva / Any: Response
