((USS Ouchita, Docked in Shuttlebay, Deck 2, USS Khitomer))
Michaels drifted into sight and approached the probe without any evident hesitation.
El’Heem: =/\= Ouchita to Hobart. We have arrived at the probe and ensign Michaels is approaching in EVA. =/\=
Jenna chose to remain quiet as her superiors talked.
Hobart: =/\= Response =/\=
El’Heem: =/\= Aye. I’ll keep you updated, sir. El’Heem out.=/\=
The Trill did not pay much attention to Ensign Michaels as she was probably the only one with a working set of sensors in the vicinity. She tried to get the most of her time here and activated a series of alarms that would steer her attention to anything that could become problematic.
After a while she looked up at Michaels opening the probe casing.
Prix: I would not want to trade with her….
He cleared his throat and said nothing for a long silence.
El’Heem: She knows what she’s doing. ::pausing again:: still ::trailing off.
Jenna nodded and looked at the sensor data again. She was no scientist, but tried to collect as much data as possible for the others when they returned home.
El’Heem: =/\= Ouchita to Michaels. =/\=
And then her computer started to sound an alarm. Quickly, she checked the sensors.
Prix: =/\= There’s an electric discharge about 5km to our starboard bow… You should not feel anything, but Tricorder data might be impacted. =/\=
Michaels: =/\= Response =/\=
El’Heem: =/\= I’m suiting up. If anything feels like it’s going to go south, I’ll be ready to get you back aboard as fast as possible. Keep us in the loop, ensign. =/\=
Before the young woman could say anything, Ras moved to the back of the ship, beginning to get into the second EVA suit. For the fraction of a second, the Trill asked herself if he would fit.
Prix: =/\= Sir, you’re in command of this little venture, I am not trained for command, but I am sure you’re not supposed to get into that storm. =/\=
Michaels/El’Heem: =/\= Response =/\=
Jenna sighed as he did not seem to care much for her words. Piloting the shuttle in case of peril and rendering first aid at the same time might become a difficult task to undertake.
Prix: =/\= Alright… I’ll be watching you. Keep this channel open.=/\=
Michaels/El’Heem: =/\= Response =/\=
As the second man exited the runabout, the silence that remained was as loud as it could get. For a second, Jenna had to get up and walk a couple of steps in the runabout before another alarm sounded. Quickly, she moved back into her seat.
Prix: =/\= Ensign, Lieutenant - A radiation flare…. I’ll…=/\=
Her voice cut again - this time because she needed to think and act quickly. Her fingers flew over the console, closing navigational sensor data and opening the tactical display.
Michaels/El’Heem: =/\= Response =/\=
What should follow, she had learned at the academy. Quickly, she located the shield emitters that pointed in the away teams direction and increased both their energy and projection range before she activated the shuttles shields. They now extended to include the away team as well as the probe and shield both from the burst of high energy gamma radiation. As the shields reached their maximum energy, she stared at the countdown to her right. 3… 2… 1… and it hit. The shuttle shook slightly.
Prix: =/\= Away team, are you alright? =/\=
Michaels/El’Heem: =/\= Response =/\=
