(( Sickbay, Deck 6 - USS Khitomer - Drydocked at DS33 ))

Things were getting back to calm, which was almost foreign to Thomas these days. Specializing in emergency medicine was probably the cause behind that. He could’ve always stayed on Earth, but then, where was the fun in that?

Here he got to meet aliens and attempt new forms of communication. It was all very exciting, when one ignored the potential threat of being blown up. Which Thomas tried not to do, when it came to it.

Semara: Mornin' doctor!

Melville-Kilpatrick: Ah! Morning, Lieutenant. Ah. Sorry if I seem a little surprised. I didn’t think anyone would be by this early. How are you doing?

Semara: Cap'n Naxell took my next couple shifts off the roster cuz I was on bridge duty for a double-shift.  So I'm takin' the opportunity to finally take care a' some chores... :: A little twisting smile. :: Like a physical.

Melville-Kilpatrick: ::mild head tilt:: Are you feeling ill?

He hadn’t pulled up her medical record yet to see if she was due for a physical, but he was relatively experienced with the idea that not everyone enjoyed being at the doctor’s office. Or sickbay, as the case was.

Semara: Nah, nothin's botherin' me, 'sides bein' tired from a long shift.  Been eatin' my usual diet.  Been gettin' more exercise than normal, actually.  A lot more - I've been workin' on a program with Ensign B'Ella in the holodeck.  She's... gotta lotta energy.

Thomas nodded, thinking of all his previous experiences with B’Ella.

Melville-Kilpatrick: I can remember that...mind holding still for a second, anyways?

Thomas began the scans, not really expecting to see anything too difficult to deal with—maybe some mild dehydration, but that was most Starfleet officers. Who had time to drink water when you were busy meeting entirely new species?

Semara: So... :: A little smile. :: First contact.  :: Smile growing. :: How's it feel?  You get to meet 'em?  What did you think?

Melville-Kilpatrick: Their captain was in here figuring out their equivalent of a gluteal implant. Which, as it turns out, was a lot different.

Semara: Response

Melville-Kilpatrick: I got the sense that she didn’t seem to like me all that much. Or maybe that’s just me being unable to read other species’ body language.

Semara: Response

Melville-Kilpatrick: But hey, that’s what it’s about. I never thought too much about first contact until it happened to me. But you got to see their ship! How was that?

Semara: Response
