((Sickbay, Deck 6, USS Khitomer, Lagoon Nebula))
He stretched his neck backwards and winced as the fabric surrounding his mangled hand was peeled back. Ras lifted his head again and looked at Ohnari.
El’Heem: ::strained:: It’s broken up until at least the mid Ulna.
Ohnari: My Gods...::narrowing her gaze at the readout of the latest scan:: Is there a bone you didn't break...? Oh. There is. One. ::flipping the display over:: Wait. Never mind. ::exhaling slowly:: Alright...let's just focus on getting you stabilized....
He strained and squeezed the edge of the biobed with his left hand as Ohnari worked.
A. Dewitt/R.Matthews: Response
El’Heem: The Probe ::swallowing:: was going to fire. I had to break the sens- aghhhhh -ors, manually. I- ::pausing:: I don’t know, I punched them. AHHHH.
Ras shut his eyes hard as another wave of pain reignited as the doctor manipulated his arm and hand, testing the extent of the damage.
Ohnari: ::eyes narrowing:: WHAT?! You punched your hand this way?? ::tossing her two perfectly functional hands in the air in exasperation, her voice jumped about three octaves:: ON PURPOSE???
Ras’s breathing became even more ragged. The pain killers she had administered didn’t seem to be doing the trick.
El'Heem: It was all for nothing too. We ran out of time and I had to pull the gel packs. ::pausing then frantically:: Did the Ouchita make it?
Ohnari/A. Dewitt/R.Matthews: Response
He took a deep breath and let it out slowly through pursed lips. His stomach was doing flips as the waves of pain kept coming. Ras bit his lip and glanced at the mangled hand Ohnari was inspecting.
El’Heem: ::defeated:: There’s no saving it. The..the trauma is too prolific.
The Kressari laid his head back down and turned it away from the carnage.
El’Heem: ::quieter now as he looked up at Ayemet:: Even if you repaired the bones, I’m already rapidly ::stopping to swallow:: developing compartment syndrome. The hand needs to go.
Ohnari/A. Dewitt/R.Matthews: Response
His skin felt clammy, and he was cold again. Shivers began to rack his body. If Ohnari wasn’t holding his arm in a vice grip and his suit wasn’t being removed piece by piece, he’d had curled up into the fetal position and waited to die. He closed his eyes.
El’Heem: There’s something else. Potassium Iodide. You’re all going to need it.
Ohnari/A. Dewitt/R.Matthews: Response
Ras opened his eyes again and met Richard’s.
El’Heem: It’s the Sencha radiation. I’m shedding it. ::looking again to Ayemet:: I can see the strain in your eyes. I was exposed to near lethal amounts when the probe discharged. I should be in much worse shape but being warped out like I was just ::pausing:: delayed the inevitable. It’s not great, but it’s not terrible.
Ras looked down at the fabric being removed from his leg, bits of skin sloughing away with it.
Ohnari/A. Dewitt/R.Matthews: Response
El’Heem: Doctor? I think I’m going to throw up.
