((Deck 9, Transporter Room Two, USS Khitomer))

The call between the Captain and XO had ended, Ezra looked down, noticing several shallow cuts to Sparks as she held on tight while he helped her up and out.

Sparks: ::breathin' heavy, holdin tight:: Th-thank you Sir...I-I sure did think I was a gonner

He was happy to help. The last thing he wanted was for her to be gone. He didn’t need the death of another member of the crew on his conscience.

Zerva: Okay, now that you’re no longer in immediate danger, we got sensor readings we need to adjust for, a level 10 force field to prepare and some sound tests to conduct. Did I miss anything? Where should we start?

Ezra hadn’t realized it, but Spark’s uniform was more torn up from the strings of the filaments than he realized. Spark’s hair was tousled and in need of a good brushing too.

Sparks: ::shaky:: Uh...if you don't be mindin' much sir...I'm in real need of a uniform change, and maybe a good cry curled up in a ball after the docs done patch me...I-I'll send a replacement and all, don't you worry....

Ezra gave Sparks a nod. He couldn’t quite imagine how that would make him feel if he was in Spark’s shoes getting caught in those filaments. It was perfectly acceptable for her to excuse herself. She was out of uniform and needed some time. On top of that Sparks was stumbling out of the room as she walked on wobbly legs. He called after her as the doors opened to exit.

Zerva: While you’re at it, if the medic is still outside in the corridor, have him take a look at you or at the very least, make your way to sickbay just to be sure you’re okay.

How long would a replacement take to get here? Hopefully not too long. There was still the matter of dealing with the filaments and erecting a level 10 forcefield. Ezra took a look once again at the data and the filaments itself. The tune from Sparks did work, but how would it react to Ezra? He was fairly good on the karaoke mic, but that was different than humming a tune. Perhaps…

Morda: =/\= Morda to Zerva. Don’t mean to distract you, boss, but the XO wants you tied in on the energy scans for our intruder. We put it through the wringer pinning down the nanofilaments and putting up a confinement beam. Might be helpful. It’s diminished various energy outputs. Commander Valeris is looped in on the data feed, too. =/\=

Some excellent work from the bridge. It would certainly help him in his tasks and being in the loop was a good idea.

Zerva: =/\= It will be very helpful, thank you Ensign. I appreciate the heads up. I’ll add those to the list of things to do down here. Keep me posted. =/\=

Morda: =/\= Aye, sir. Morda out. =/\=

Yet another thing to add to the list. Ezra made some more notes. With Sparks gone, and Ezra waiting on her replacement, he realized some more help would be appreciated. Who else could he count on that might be able to help dealing with these sharp pointed  filaments? Then he got an idea.

Zerva: =/\= Lieutenant Zerva to Gunnery Sargent Martz. I could use your assistance on Deck Nine in Transporter Room two. =/\=

Martz: =/\= Response =/\=

Zerva: =/\= The Filaments that have originated from Nebula have become increasingly more dangerous. I could use your expertise in what could be a dangerous task. One I think you’ll appreciate. =/\=

Martz: =/\= Response =/\=

Zerva: =/\= Understood. Zerva, out. =/\=

The doors to the transporter room opened. It was Wynters and Crewman Chenn who had been waiting right outside.

Wynters: The medic said they had some other patients injured by the filaments to tend to on other decks.

It made sense. There was the risk of filaments injuring other members of the crew on many decks that would require the medic’s help now that Crewman Chenn had been patched up.

Chenn: Sir, I noticed Petty Officer Sparks' uniform and she didn’t look too well. If it’s okay with you, I’d like to take a que from her and get a change of clothes and some food. I could use a break. I’m famished and unless you need me here, I’ll head down to the cafeteria after I change.

Zerva: ::nodding:: That’s fine crewman. Now that the medic has gotten you back on your feet, I trust thirty minutes is enough time before returning to work?

The look on Crewman Chenn’s face said otherwise.

Chenn: ::hesitant:: Y-yes sir. Thank you sir.

Zerva: Report to Petty Officer Nguyen when you are finished. ::beat:: We are currently at Yellow Alert status and need everyone's help. There are other transporter rooms that might be in need of your talents ::raising a brow:: Provided you can avoid getting injured again?

Ezra held back the grin he was about to reveal to the pair of them, but decided against it. Then his stomach began to grumble. He could use a food break himself, but he had work to do first.

Wynters: Unless he wants to deal with a medic who already told him to avoid any more injuries. ::grinning for the two of them:: Is there anything else I can do for you sir? ::eyes the filaments in the room::

Zerva: I’ll be fine. Martz and another engineer are on their way. I should be good. Report back to sickbay and check in with the rest of your shift.

Wynters nodded and the two departed.

The doors now closed, Ezra got back to work and began implementing the changes that the bridge crew sent in the data. There was much to do and little time to do it before things got increasingly worse. His mind quickly shifted to Ensign Matthews. Was he alright? He hoped so, the last thing he wanted was to see his friend get hurt. Or any member of the away team for that matter. He turned back to his work, making preparations for when Martz and whoever else was being sent to aid them.

((Brief Timeskip. Deck 9, Transporter Room Two, USS Khitomer))

By the time Martz arrived, Ezra had erected a level 10 forcefield around the transporter pad in question. Now it was time to test the data that had been sent to him.

Martz: Response

Zerva: ::Looking up from his work:: Welcome to transporter room two. Shall we get to..

Martz: Response

Ezra looked up spying Martz carrying something big in his arms. He wasn’t quite certain if it was an oversize toolkit, weapon or a keg of beer.

Zerva: : Martz? What is that you’re carrying? And is it necessary for the task at hand?

Martz: Response
