((Short Timeskip, Sickbay, Deck Six, USS Khitomer))

After an interesting journey through the innards of the ship, Lieutenants Matthews and Torado finally made it to Sickbay and, despite his legs working as they should, the problems with his arm and shoulder caused Charlie to shamble as they passed through the parting doors. He had no clue what was going on anywhere, but the Sickbay was buzzing with activity and chatter as he and the Marine approached a group of Officers and a biobed completely covered in some sort of gloop, which in turn was covered by a forcefield.

oO Just another day in Starfleet. Oo

A Dewitt: Everything is intact, apart from my nerves.

Ohnari: Response

A Dewitt: You should sell that recipe at Quarks Bar. You’d make a fortune. One drink and boom!

Matthews--- Charles--- glanced at Lieutenant Torado as she noticeably cleared her throat.

Torado: Doc? Could use a hand, if you’re done with that, uh, science project…?

Ohnari: Response

Hobart: =/\= All hands, this is the Captain. As you can tell power and communications have been restored. Injuries should immediately report to Sickbay on deck six, or the aid station on deck thirteen. =/\=

R. Matthews: So strange to hear Hobart saying that. It’s not bad to hear. But still strange.

Hobart: =/\= We are currently without propulsion, and we are caught in a subspace anomaly. You may continue to feel shudders as the ship is pulled by currents around a small, newly formed singularity. Our first priority is to restore the ship. Our second is to free it. You should also be aware that the probe is still out there, and we have reason to believe it risks a misfire. The inoculation we've received should protect us, but it won't protect the ship. For now, keep communications to a necessary minimum. Direct medical concerns to Commander Ohnari. Direct engineering matters to Commander Dewitt. And direct scientific concerns to Lieutenant Semara. We will get through and out of this together. Hobart out. =/\=

R. Matthews: I take it back, he should stop talking now.

oO That… other… Matthews might be right. This doesn’t sound good. “A small, newly formed singularity”? With propulsion offline? I need to be on the Bridge. Oo

R. Matthews: What happened?

Ohnari: Response

Charlie gingerly turned towards the Doctor, reminded of her barging into him at the Dewitt wedding on Earth, and nodded towards her.

C. Matthews: I landed on my shoulder, dislocated the damn thing.

Torado: We were in the Holodeck when power went out. Did some floating before the power came on. ::gesturing to Lieutenant Matthews:: He did more than me.

A Dewitt: I’m sure Dr Ohnari will be able to help both of you.

Ohnari: Response

R. Matthews: :: Glancing at the station’s readouts and grinning :: Commander, do you want the good news? Or the other good news?

A Dewitt: Just tell us Ensign.

Ohnari: Response

R. Matthews: Good news is, systems in sickbay are showing in the green. I’m not quite sure why, but after scanning the gel pack you have there, and the rest of our ship’s bio network to get a better idea of the damage. I’m seeing that besides a few patches of bio-neural packs throughout the ship looking fine for now. All of the clusters of the packs in sickbay are fine. With the other major clusters of unaffected packs being near, I think, our air filtration systems?

A Dewitt: Our air filtration systems?

Ohnari: Response

R. Matthews: Okay, and the other good news, remember when I asked about sickbays systems? Computer, power, that stuff?

A Dewitt: Yes Ensign I remember.

Ohnari: Response

R. Matthews: So, sickbay’s systems are interconnected with the main ship’s computer. But we have, as of five minutes ago, an emergency program to configure and isolate our sickbays systems from the rest of the ship’s network.

A Dewitt: Did I miss something?

Ohnari: Response

R. Matthews: :: Coughing :: I’m sure a real engineer has a protocol for this. But yes, doctor, with your approval we can launch the program and hopefully keep sickbays systems safe from any cascading failures that might be caused by the damaged systems in other parts of the ship. And maybe prevent whatever is causing this sickness to jump from gel pack to gel pack.

Ohnari: Response

R. Matthews: Also, could I please take a look at the packs here in sickbay? Please? I want to see why some are okay while others are not. It’s bothering me how the damage is spreading. I can’t put my finger on it. But. Why are all the packs not impacted when the whole ship was bombarded by radiation? And if one part of the ship wasn’t covered. How is it spreading?

A Dewitt: Nothing to do with me Ensign. Dr Ohnari?

Ohnari: Response

R. Matthews: I've got a theory, but, I don’t want to say just yet.

A Dewitt:  Ensign if you have a theory voice it. Keeping it to yourself is not going to help anyone. Fresh perspectives and all that.

R. Matthews: Theory isn’t really the right word. It’s just that it is odd how the gel packs were impacted. If the whole ship was being bombarded by radiation. Why didn’t all the packs become damaged? Was it only a few that weren’t protected and then this infection spread?

Charles had been listening to the conversation going on around him and Lieutenant Torado, and whilst he understood that the ship wasn’t in the best of situations, he was half tempted to take some sort of painkiller and just leave. He was itching to get back to his post and do something useful, especially if there was a singularity that needed to be avoided.

C. Matthews: ::whispers to Torado and gestures to his shoulder:: Do you want to just pop this back in its hole?

Torado / Ohnari: Response

The Matthews with a golden collar tried to shrug but he couldn’t, not properly, and he grimaced slightly instead.

A Dewitt: First things first. Doctor how are your patients?

Ohnari: Response

A Dewitt: Okay that sounds promising : taking a breath. : Now calmly and in a professional manner what are our priorities?

R. Matthews: If doctor Ohnari okays it. I’ll get on the system isolating project. When I’m sure we have sickbay’s systems on lock. I’ll run diagnostics before switching over to examining our gel packs.

C. Matthews: I’m sorry to intrude, but Doctor, can I get this sorted so I can go and be useful somewhere please?

Ohnari / Torado: Response

R. Matthews: But I can hold off on examining the packs if you need help with the injured doctor.

Ohnari: Response

C. Matthews: Well, it’s a very interesting colour and the sensation isn’t fun. It’s like I stuck it in the intermix chamber without as much as a radiation suit.

Ohnari: Response

C. Matthews: I… vomited too. On the Holodeck floor. Now you’ve reminded me, it’s still there.

Ohnari: Response

Any: Responses

Charles glanced at Lieutenant Torado, squinting slightly.

C. Matthews: Don’t let her Marine bravado fool you. She took a hit or two as well.

Torado: Response

C. Matthews: ::smirks:: It’s what you get for not letting me go to the Bridge.

Any: Responses
