((Alpha Trounus Prison Facility))
The door slid open.
A.Dewitt: Why Mr Tram are you trying to seduce me?
Tram: ::flatly:: I assure you, Lieutenant, I am not.
Richard bit his tongue. Really, someone should be proud of that.
A.Dewitt: Quid pro quo Mr Tram. I’ll tell you about the animals that experimented on me and you tell me how you are going to stop them
Tram: ::steepling his hands:: I am afraid you may have given me far more credit than I deserve...I am a humble warden. My expertise has been containment, for the last several months.
Richard glanced around the room. There was a lot said for containing a situation. Prevention was one of his preferred methods for dealing with an issue. If you could prevent the accident from happening, you saved yourself so much trouble and time. Dealing with their enemy wouldn’t be as simple. They were trying to prevent a certain scenario from happening. But in the long run, they were past prevention as a viable option for dealing with their enemies.
Containment could still work. Maybe. The implementation of some of the prisons processes could be helpful. If they were given enough time and information.
A.Dewitt: :arching an eyebrow: Oh I doubt that Mr Tram. If anything I think you haven’t been given enough credit: pause: but I respect your reluctance to divulge what must be important and meaningful work to you. However if sharing my experiences would be helpful I am happy to oblige. You’re primarily a doctor or a scientist?
Tram: I am a physician, yes. Or, rather I was. Before the Dominion occupation. Now my talents have been more....research based. Although if I am being truthful, scientific exploration and experimentation have always been my true passions.
A.Dewitt: I am something of a scientist myself and yet find myself a ship’s Counselor to a crew that neither wants nor needs one. The Sheliak tried to take even that away from me. I need to know they won’t be able to again.
Tram: Fascinating beings...the Sheliak. Physically so different, series of folds and mucus secretion...their brains, held within the loop structure. Such capacity for processing vast amounts of information...coldly efficient, given my...focused research, I determined each loop seems to be able to operate independently from the others. ::his head tilted in thought:: How curious they seemed to have the same idea when it came to your captivity....
Notes, he should be taking notes. If nothing else, a mental note to look up the biology of their enemies. He wasn’t a practicing doctor. But that didn’t mean he shouldn’t level his knowledge for some benefits. He’d think of something.
A dark part of him wanted to experiment on finding a way to turn Sencha Radiation into something dangerous for their enemies too.But that way lay ‘mad scientist’ and he wanted to avoid falling into that cliche.
A.Dewitt: :trying to hide her exasperation: Captain, Lieutenant, what a surprise to see you here. Mr Tram and I were having a very stimulating conversation.
Shayne: Yes, very informative. Thank you. However, we found a number of small issues, some structural, some electrical. Nothing to worry about- it’s bound to happen when we’re dealing with temperature variations this extreme- but I’ve ordered a small team of engineers to beam down to effect certain repairs.
Tram: Response
A.Dewitt: I am so sorry for the interruption Mr Tram. Our Captain likes to make sure that all boxes are ticked.
Richard didn’t say anything. He did shoot the room a small smile, with a little shrug. As if to say ‘sorry, I’ll be quiet, no one will know that I’m here.’
Tram: Response
A.Dewitt: Captain this really is excellent wine. You should try a glass.
Not much of a drinker. Richard took a few measured steps into the room. Remaining in the group but standing just far apart that he could get away with just nodding along. And looking around as if he was just casually taking in his surroundings.
Shayne / Tram: Response
A.Dewitt: Mr Tram is being far too modest. I was about to share my experience at the lab with him.
That did catch Richard’s attention. He cast a curious glance Ayemet’s way.
Matthews: You were?
He hoped that she was okay with that. He didn’t want to undercut her here and now by questioning her in front of Tram. Here was hoping his feelings of worry were getting across.
Best part of so many coworkers being telepathic or empathic? You could more easily broadcast that you were ready to cause a distraction or something to help. You could also silently scream and someone would answer!
Shayne / Tram: Response
A.Dewitt: Mr Tram as you can see time is an issue for our Captain. I really am very eager to see if we can correlate our experiences . Is there any compromise that might be acceptable to you?
He wished there was a way to ask what they were doing. Not that he wasn’t up to speed on the general plot. But he did wonder when or if they would be shifting from questioning. To taking the lead and starting an evacuation or possibly sitting up for an ambush. If they were going to stay and fight that was.
Oh, wait.
Sliding up alongside the captain, pulling out his tricorder, never more thankful for the fact that the newer models looked like PADDs. Matt opened up a window, and using the slide to type feature to get a message typed up. Without it looking like he was actually typing.
Holding up the device to read, he nudged the captain to get his attention. Hopefully he’d see the small message that basically said, ‘We’re on a time limit, what are we doing for the attack?’
He didn’t expect a response. Shayne couldn’t turn to him and tell him what was up. But at least he’d made his need known. Hopefully he’d get a heads up for what was next.
