((Bridge, Deck 1, USS Khitomer, the Lagoon Nebula))

Semara: Officer thinkin'.  If only one runabout didn't have trashed gel packs, one shuttle weren't cannibalized for power... :: A tool between her teeth, and yanking out a thick cable. :: Aaannn eeeef deee uuudder threee wher'nn shtukk een de mainaance bay.

Say what Semara? Something about the maintenance bay?

Hobart: We've got one functional runabout, and if the sensors are working good enough to make do, then I'd like to keep the Ouachita in my back pocket for now.

T’Dara: The computer is unable to to predict a modulation derivative. ::She looked up, translating to Standard:: I’m doing it manually for lack of gel packs, but if we do not find a method of predicting fluctuations and eddies in the subspace current, we will lose our warp field. Potentially more than our warp field.

Zerva: If the warp fields go, those  minor fluctuations in the shields won’t be so minor. They’ll be holes big enough for those threads to break through the hull. And it be his job to find a way for those holes not to happen.

Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Semara working under her consoles underbelly. She was taping, rewriting and Mac Gyvering all sorts of things. Hadn’t they already done that hours ago? There was too much to keep track of with his eyes constantly on the tactical station. Ezra could have sworn she was an engineer in a past life.

T’Dara: =/\= Engineering, this is T’Dara. Detecting a 0.3 millicochrane oscillation in our warp bubble. =/\=

Michaels: =/\= Acknowledged. There is an 84.6% probability that we can stabilize it at that level if we do not increase the load on the warp core. I estimate that a power setting of 12.6% is very approximately the maximum we can handle and maintain any semblance of control. Warp three absolute maximum speed. =/\=

Dewitt / R. Matthews: =/\= Response =/\=

Ezra heard a pooing noise as he worked. He looked over at Semara.

Was she okay?

Semara: Ah!  :: A yelp as she reflexively covered her face ::

Zerva: Are you alright?

Semara: I'm fine!

She might be fine, but her station was anything but! Electrical black smoke came up from underneath where she worked. Did she need a an extinguisher? No time for that now anyways. If it wasn’t serious, they could worry about it later. Just as long as her plan would work.

Hobart: Ensign Graves, given what we're observing on the tendrils, how much power would we need to pump into the warp field to seal the core?

T'Dara / Banks / Graves / Dewitt / Michaels / R. Matthews: Response (optional)

Zerva: ::to Graves:: Will that be enough?

Semara: :: A deep breath, then to herself :: Okay, conductors... Copper.  No. Aluminum.  No.  Silver. No.  Gold...  :: Beat, then exasperation :: Oh, come on!

The ship rocked yet again as another tendril made contact.

Zerva: Shields fluctuating at 42%! He began pulling power from non essential systems, his fingers dancing over the console:: Structural integrity is at 81%. Minor damage to the hull.

Semara: :: Singsong, to Graves :: Graves... That ain't "minor" cavitation!

Hobart: Commander T’Dara, Dewitt—can we get that much out of a runabout's core?

T'Dara / Banks / Graves / Dewitt / Michaels / R. Matthews: Response (optional)

Did Semara just pull a MacZerva of her own?! With a hair clip!?! Her face popped out from under her station. Ezra made a note. It was his turn to give her a fruit basket or the like as soon as they were done with this place.

Semara: :: Hissing :: Great Fana... :: Reporting out :: The lightnin' rod is workin' a little too well.  We're pullin' the whole dang anomaly down on us as we go.  Fine if we had infinite stable warp power, but...  :: trailing off ::

So just like a lighting rod, they were not only attracting the anomaly, but they’d roped it up and pulled it right along with them. Swell!

The main viewer lite up. At least dozen of those mangled threads were lashing out on all sides. It was like they were in a dust storm back on earth, with nowhere to go. Was this the Flying Spaghetti Monster his brother read about in his comic books when they were kids? It sure looked that way.

Zerva: Structural integrity at 73%. Shields down to 37%! I’ve pulled as much power as I can from non essential systems! I don’t know how much more the shields can take.

The Captain was up and gripping the backseat of the helmsman station where Banks was piloting them through this awful mess.

Hobart: Can you juggle, Ensign? I need someone to remotely pilot the runabout Ouachita back into anomaly as it follows us. Then… ::pointing to Commander T’Dara and Ensign Graves:: …can we use its warp field like ours, only higher output, long enough to collapse the anomaly before the Ouachita is destroyed?

T'Dara / Banks / Graves / Dewitt / Michaels / R. Matthews: Response

Hobart: Zerva, Semara, start the remote uplink!

Zerva: ::rushing over to Semara’s console at her side:: Yes sir!

Semara: :: Cool but urgent :: Go!  Faster!  Now!

T'Dara / Banks / Graves / Dewitt / Michaels / R. Matthews: Response?

Hobart: They can bill me! Launch!

Ezra grabbed ahold tight on the science station as the viewscreen switched to an astern view. The empty runabout was flung from the Khitomer’s open bay like a rock from a slingshot! It quickly disappeared inside Hobart’s Hole…

T'Dara / Zerva / Banks / Graves / Dewitt / Michaels / R. Matthews: Response?

Ezra could feel the ship about to go to warp, but something was wrong. Very wrong. The science console beeped at them. It displayed vibrations from the singularity. Odd because it was getting smaller and smaller.

Zerva: ::to Semara:: What is that?

Semara: Response

The console beeped again, as rippling of nebula gases and the remains of the hole turned back against them! A massive shockwave the likes Ezra had not seen since Frontier Day was coming straight at them! His left hand began to twitch…

Zerva: ::left hand twitching whispering to Semara:: This gonna hurt… ::tensing up, speaking louder now:: Awww, FRACK!

Hobart: =/\= All hands, this is the Captain! BRACE! =/\=

T'Dara / Banks / Graves / Dewitt / Michaels / R. Matthews: Response?

The wave came crashing all around the hull of the ship knocking it backwards, sending it flinging around to one side. If there were any shields left, they were gone now as alarms blared, sparks flew and red lights went off. Ezra tried his best to brace, but the force of the wave was too much.

Zerva: Amelia look out!

T'Dara / Banks / Hobart / Graves / Dewitt / Semara / Michaels / R. Matthews: Response?

What was left of the science jury rigged console station, sparked to life. Ezra leaped up in front of Lieutenant Semara just as it blew in an attempt to shield her from the burst of the electrical blast that exploded in front of them. He tried to shield his eyes, but it was too late. His eyes saw a flashing burst of light that caught him in the face, causing him to be unable to react to anything else that he might have seen otherwise.

Zerva: ::blinding console lights and electrical sparks bursting in front of his eyes:: I can’t see!

He couldn’t see what was happening on the bridge, but he could hear all the things going wrong, the alarms, the damage and the sounds of the bridge crew reacting as the wave overlook them all.

T'Dara / Banks / Hobart / Graves / Dewitt / Semara / Michaels / R. Matthews: Response?

Ezra could feel what seemed like a second wave riding on the backs of the first one. The result caused  pieces of the science console to strike him in the forehead. It caused a red gash that was seeping out. His couldn’t see a thing as it all went dark.

Zerva: :: As he’s struck in the head:: Ugh! ::voice fading:: Lera…

T'Dara / Banks / Hobart / Graves / Dewitt / Semara / Michaels / R. Matthews: Response?
