to USS Khitomer – StarBase 118 Star Trek PBEM RPG
((Atrium, Indulgence of Chocolate-Coated Jama’haron))
Morgan: It is the 'not all' that should be the driving force behind anything. There are opportunities out there that exist within that simple statement which would not exist without the attempt to hold on to it.
Khitsu: Opportunities? Perhaps I am missing something. We are having a conversation. I don't understand how that could be more than a trivial opportunity.
She smiled again and for the first time in awhile, Armand wondered if the situation was like a cat playing with a mouse. He was certain that he was not the cat.
Morgan: For one, you've offered intriguing thoughts and have allowed me the pleasure of a conversation worth having.
Khitsu: Unfortunately, ma'am, not all opportunities are as "pleasurable" as this one. My job involves protecting people from those who are in the not so good category who wish to take the opportunity to do things that are not as "pleasurable" as this conversation.
Morgan: Perhaps it is something we could do again. I hear the Khitomer's lounge is a welcoming place to be.
Arden went motionless as every alarm in his head went off. The Betazoid woman had mentioned his new ship as though meeting there was a possibility. How could she possibly know that? It wasn't effective yet. He hadn't reported in to his new commanding officer. Only the Khitomer command team, his former shipmates and Starfleet central command knew that. He silently reviewed the Khitomer roster he had been given. There was a single Betazoid officer, Amelia Semara, on Khitomer. And one enlisted Betazoid. This woman was not on the roster. She had stopped him intentionally. It was not simple curiosity about a member of an unusal species. She had stopped him fully aware who he was. She was fully aware of his history, the history of his people, his family. She was fully aware of the atrocities they had suffered at the hands of the Purifiers and their Betazoid partners. The only hint she had given previously was her cryptic congratulations about his getting off Paryat. Was she one of the ones working with the Purifiers? Had she been sent to hunt him down? How could he have been so foolish as to actually talk with her?
He allowed himself to blink quickly, anxious to not take his eyes off her. His thoughts circled back to the question of how she had known he would be here. Would the purifiers have access to information like that? If Starfleet information was so poorly protected that a group of non-Starfleet Betazoids could access it, then the Federation was in serious trouble. The Lattice Alliance would be able to do so as well.
oO She is obviously Starfleet. Obviously an officer. Perhaps assigned to Khitomer after I received my roster. Perhaps. I don't dare offend her. Do I dare trust her? If I see her on Khitomer then I will know. Now. Be Polite, Arden. Be courteous. Oo
Khitsu: Perhaps. :: standing :: If you will excuse me, there is a matter that I would like to attend to.
Morgan: Response?
Khitsu: Then good day, ma'am.
