(( Life Sciences Lab, Deck 9, USS Khitomer ))

Ezra was looking to get some extra credit while on shore leave. He thought, since the two of them spent so much time together on the bridge last mission, that Lieutenant Semara was the prefect person for the job. He didn’t know a lot about the sciences or even engineering as a whole, but he was willing to learn. Especially if Semara was okay with it.

He strode through the doors of science lab where he thought Semera might be located. To his luck she was not only here, but it looked like to Ezra that she was striking a pose with what looked like a purse?

oO Nice… Pose? Oo

Ezra was no fashion model expert, so he wasn’t the best at judging said pose. But from his vantage point, it looked professional enough for the cover of Starfleet Weekly or Vogue magazine.

Semara: Oh!  Hi, Lieutenant. :: A quick curtsy, then a beat. :: Ezra.  :: A smile. :: How d'you do?

What was the right greeting for a curtsy? A bow? Ezra decided to do just that.

Zerva: ::gives a smile and a bow in response:: Ezra will do just fine on shore leave, if you please. We’ll save the rank and proper form when we’re on duty. ::hesitating:: If that’s alright with you?

Semara: Okay, but first, a question: Does this P.U.R.S.E make me look fat?  :: A goofy, slanting grin as she showed off her creation. ::  That stands for Portable Ultra Roomy Science Encasement.  :: A chuckle. ::

To quote one Admiral from a long ago time, in a far away distance galaxy…

oO It’s a Trap! Oo

Zerva: ::dodging the “if it makes look fat”:: I like the acronym. That’s pretty cool. But if I may? It looks like something that Mrs. Croix would accessorize with a sparkly dress.

Semara slung the purse over her shoulder and flopped it onto the lab table. Ezra hoped that he didn’t say anything wrong in his statement.

Semara: Ah, you're right.  Definitely too flashy...  Back to the drawin' board, I guess! :: Beat :: Anyway, how've you been?  What can I do for ya'?

If he was being honest he would say, things since the last mission could have been better. He was enjoying spending time with Lera and his friends. And physically he’s better after being blinded for day. It was more his mental state since their time together on the bridge last mission. Something that was still bugging him. But first the other reason he was here.

Zerva: ::shrugs:: I’ve been better and I’ve been worse. I am mostly enjoying shore leave and I hope you are too. But I was thinking. On our last mission we spent some time with nebulas, space anomalies and probing holes and ::snickers:: Sorry, but the XO’s never going live that down is he?

Semara: Response

Zerva: ::laughing:: Sorry, not sorry. But it is your fault for naming it that.

Semara: Response

Zerva: Ah… ::takes a breath:: Right. The reason I’m here. So I was wondering, since I’m not to good with all this science stuff, maybe you could teach me a thing or two? Maybe about some space science?

Semara: Response

Zerva: Great! I appreciate it. ::holds out his trocorder:: And while we’re at it, I might um, dropped my tricorder a one few times many. I can’t seem to get the thing to work. The sensors are all wacky. ::taps on the side of it with his free hand, as if it will magically start working again.:: See? ::hands it over:: I tried to Fonzy it. What am I doing wrong?

Semara: Response

Alright Ezra thought, while she’s distracted, maybe it would be a good time to talk about the events of the last mission. He sure hoped so.

Zerva: I appreciate you taking a look. ::fumbles with his hands nervously.:: And ::beet:: There was one other thing. Um, you remember when we were on the bridge last mission and acting Captain Hobart was mad. Like really mad that the runabout team didn’t check in first before debarking and, um ::fidgets his hands::

Semara: Response

Why was this so hard for him to talk to her or anyone else on the Khitty about it? He tried his best to breathe and relax.

Zerva: Right. And then ::His left hand twitched for a brief moment::  he, um said that we were, er expendable. Like you, me and everyone on the ship. The whole, “the probe was the priority and we’re not”.  I’m pretty sure, like me you weren’t too happy with the SCE being there either. What gives? ::folds his hands together to stop being nervous:: I’m pretty sure that’s not normal. Especially for him. I should know, he dressed me out once after I blamed him for leaving the body of Chief Vanta behind, two missions ago. And that was nothing compared to this. Any idea what’s going on?

Semara: Response
