Earlier that morning, Richard had received an alert. ‘Report to Security for phaser recertification’ scrolling across his display. The ship’s computer had also mentioned this. And a random security officer had also messaged him with a reminder. Apparently they were very busy in security and he had to make his appointment time. Least he lose his qualifications and not be allowed to carry a phaser on missions for a while.
Which was fine. A tricorder was all he needed to be a menace. Still, with the luck he had been having lately, he was not going to risk going on an away mission without a weapon. Least he found himself under attack by the Sheliak again, or something.
R. Matthews: :: Stepping through the door :: Hello? I’m here to report in for phaser resertification. Oh hey!

R. Matthews: Ezra! Hey, are you the person doing the testing today?
Zerva: Response
R. Matthews: Yup! I got my alert this morning that my certification is almost up. And considering the trouble we get up to. I figured I should get this all cleared up before the next away mission.

R. Matthews: So, do we head up to the holodeck to do this or?
