to USS Khitomer – StarBase 118 Star Trek PBEM RPG

((Main Sickbay, USS Khitomer))

Stepping into the Khitomer’s sickbay, Nathan looked around. For the most part, it felt like just about any other sickbay. But there was something…something that felt different. He couldn’t put his finger on it, but maybe it had something to do with the Khitomer’s close proximity to the frontline of the conflict with the Lattice Alliance. Maybe he would never really know.

Richards: Doctor Ohnari?

He took a couple steps further into the room before finally hearing a response.

Ohnari: ::calling out:: In my office!!

Nathan moved towards the voice, rounding the door to find Talia in her office wearing some…very interesting eyewear.

Richards: Hey, Talia! Uh, Nathan Richards for our…much belated appointment.

The glasses were removed from the doctor’s face and she blinked a few times. Nathan suppressed a chuckle. It looked like those things would give anyone a headache.

Ohnari: Whoa. Head rush, ::shaking if off a bit:: Commander Richards, nice to finally meet you.

He ran his hand through his hair and chuckled before shrugging.

Richards: At least I kept and showed up for this one, right?

Ohnari: Fourteenth  times the charm, right? ::she grinned mischievously:: Now show me what I’ll be working with.

The grin concerned Nathan slightly, but he had heard so many good things about Talia’s work that he shoved the concerns aside. He rolled up his sleeve to reveal more of his prosthetic and held it out towards her.

Richards: Here it is. It’s been a bit of a headache the last couple of months.

The glasses went back on her face as she looked over his arms. The “hmmmm’s” and “Huh’s” didn’t instill confidence in the prognosis of his prosthetic.

Ohnari: ::yanking off the glasses:: Two things. First, shirt needs to come off. Second, and this is vastly important, who in the hell made this thing? ::grimacing:: Not to be rude but…were they a medical doctor??

He chuckled, thinking back to getting the prosthetic. First the temporary – that he stuck into an EPS junction on a quickly failing shuttle – then the golden one he currently had. Never a dull moment back then. He pulled his shirt off over his head and set it down on one of the biobeds.

Richards: Yeah, they are a medical doctor. Maybe not as thoroughly trained in prosthetics as you are. It’s done me well for this long. I’ve made modifications myself and with the help of another Engineer. That’s one of the issues I’ve run into. I can’t get the access hatch open in the forearm.

Ohnari: I see…that is…facsinating and terrifying all at once. ::beat:: I love it! ::slapping her hands and rubbing them together:: Alright Commander… this is gonna get weird…

Nathan was all for weird. Most of the time.

Richards: Alright. Let’s get weird.

Ohnari: Response

He held out his arm so that she could look over the entire thing. When she got down to the access hatch in his forearm, he thought about warning her of what might happen, but decided against it. It might be funnier that way.

Richards: It’s like the release mechanism is stuck or something.

Ohnari: Response

There was a click from the latch as she somehow figured out how to release it, and Nathan braced himself. The hatch flew open, and a small golden ball launched out towards her.

Richards: Incoming!

Ohnari: Response

The small golden ball landed on the biobed and rolled to a stop before it spread its little legs and began to crawl around.

Richards: There you are! Free at last! ::chuckling, looking at Talia:: Sorry, Doc. I’d like you to meet my ARMadillo.

The little golden ARMadillo turned and looked at Talia as well, its small screen-face displaying a series of basic emoticons before finally settling on what it was feeling in that moment.

ARMadillo: :D

Ohnari: Response
