((Main Engineering, Deck 12, USS Khitomer - Mobile Medical Site))
((OOC: No need to work this into currently existing Engineering sims. I am happy for it to “stand alone” and be hand waved for continuity’s sake as happening in spare moments as would have been convenient for characters to pop over. I’m just going to tag one or two people at a time and work my way through everyone.))
Trauma was less of a specialty for Alix and more of a passion. She had lived through a mass casualty event long before joining Starfleet and that day had changed the trajectory of her entire life. Sure, a counsellor might say it was her own trauma response that drove her; a need to control something that had left a scar on her psyche, but it worked for her. She spent a lot of time reading articles and studying trauma organization tactics. So, when the opportunity arose for her to put into practice a new protocol she'd just read about for a mass inoculation event, she leapt at it. Not literally, of course, because leaping in Sickbay was asking for an injury and unlike most other Starfleet Officers, Alix was not so haphazard with her safety. She’d not sustained an injury in the line of duty yet, and had no desire to earn her own purple heart. No, she figuratively leapt at the opportunity, tripping over her own words as she volunteered for the chance to run the mobile medical site in Engineering.
Now she and a young medical Cadet were setting up the mobile partition in a mostly out of the way corner of Engineering.
Jexen: L-looks like a good spot.
The young Bajoran Cadet who looked barely old enough to enlist in Starfleet, much less already be posted to a ship, was the nervous sort, lanky in frame but very quick. Alix found it endearing. As they finished setting up the partition, the Cadet’s eyes flitted around Engineering, taking everything in. An onlooker might take him as being afraid, but Dr. Harford could recognize an analytical mind. Jexen Selyth might be overlooked in a crowd due to his distinct lack of confidence, but his Academy scores were off the charts. The kid was brilliant, which is precisely why Alix had selected him to help her today.
Harford: Yes, it’s suitable for our needs; well ventilated, easily accessible but outside the flow of traffic, doesn’t block any major systems the Engineers might have to access. ::pause:: Alright, let’s get those subdermals ready.
Jexen nodded eagerly as he pulled out a tray from the grav cart. Alix watched his preparations closely. The next few hours would be a whirlwind of organized chaos, a dance of efficiency that Alix had perfected. She loved this part of her job, the anticipation of a well-executed plan; a sense of order in a life that could, at any moment, descend into disarray. It was a feeling she had chased her whole life.
Almost immediately after they’d gotten set up, crew members began filtering over for their subdermal implants. One of the first among them was a friendly face, but not one she’d expected to see down here in Engineering. She allowed herself a warm smile and a wave as the blonde approached.
Harford: What are you doing down here in Engineering?
Semara: Response
Alix’s eyes grew wide and she shook her head in exasperation.
Harford: You can wait until you’re behind the partition to expose your rear end, Amelia!
Semara: Response
She laughed at her friend’s wide eyed and innocent response even as she grabbed the device Jexen held out in her direction.
Harford: Well not everyone is as comfortable with group nudity as you Betazoids are. ::since you’re already mooning all of Engineering, ::she readys the applicator:: quick pinch.
The hiss of the injector was soft as it punctured the woman’s dermis and inserted a small metal pellet into the top layer of muscle on the right side of her noticeably tanned rear end. Alix didn’t raise an eyebrow, but the thought did cross her mind that Amelia must find time to sunbathe in her natural Betazoid state for there not to be any noticeable tan lines.
Semara: Response
