((Lab 1, Sickbay, Deck 6, USS Khitomer))
If Haliian CMO Talia Ohnari had to once again tackle the problem of Sencha radiation, after barely handling it the last time...she was going to scream, very loudly, with extreme dramatics.
In her head.
For five more seconds.
After that, she went to the replicator and concocted a dangerously caffeinated raktajino latte that could power a small warp core. The two physicians and their variously caffeinated beverages, discussing the options for a subdermal option.
Harford: See, that was my concern as well, but when I factored in the rate of exposure and upgraded the nanochip attached to the device…
Alix tapped away at the console as she spoke.
Harford: ::with a flourish at the console: See? Successful simulation.
Talia was taking a long sip, looking over the data.
Ohnari: Ah...I see now, the pellet delivery system that we can control without having to do repeat injections. ::lifting up her mug:: Well done indeed.
Harford: The nanochip should allow us to control the dosage being delivered at any given time. So, when we’re in danger of exposure, the patient is being dosed based on the rate we set remotely. When there is no exposure risk, we shut it down.
Ohnari: Given the amount of exposure, we may want to keep this on rotation. First initial insertion, can be set to dormant as necessary, doesn't risk migration or rejection...and in the case of exposure, we've got a veritable army of nano-assisted isotope scrubbers. ::typing a few commands:: You've probably seen them around, but it attaches to a major muscle group and stays anchored until any remaining radioactive isotopes have been neutralized. ::stretching her neck back and forth:: Considering the anchoring...the standard placement of the pellet may not be available.
The thin, metallic device was an innovation. It allowed the patient to be mobile, instead of having to stay in a specific decontamination chamber and be monitored by a rotation of shifts. Given the proximity to the Lattice Alliance and it being their weapon of choice...she was quite proud of her little mini creation.
Harford: Not having the advantage of the thick muscle in the thigh might cause issues. What do you suggest as an alternative location for the implant?
Ohnari: ::Tossing up her hands in frustration:: I swear this Sencha Radiation and it's ensuing complications have been nothing but a major pain in my a-
The doctor trailed off, the two locked eyes. While being the superior location for their needs, not many would be too pleased with the placement...ah the awkward lives of physicians.
Harford: Response
Ohnari: Yes I am fully aware. However, do we have a more advantageous location?
Harford: Response
Nodding in resolve, she knew it was going to cause an uproar, but what other choices did they have? Hunting down everyone with a personalized hypo would take far too long, and they had less control on additional dosage needs, the aerosolized dispensal also saw mixed results. So, it had come down to the implantable, nanochip pellet. Already her mind was forming the necessary set up, two doctors, two screens, two lines, one injection per person.
Ohnari: Oh, and we're going to need an external monitor for Lieutenant El'Heem. His face full of radiation from the events of the last mission is going to need constant monitoring with the risk of additional exposure...
Harford: Response
Ohnari: Make it a loud and annoying alarm. One he can't hide from everyone else because "As a doctor he knows his limits". ::it wasn't just El'Heem, she'd say the same thing about herself. With a nod, she tapped her badge:: =/\= Chief Medical Officer to all crew, please report to Sickbay prior to our arrival to the Lagoon nebula. Due to time constraints, we will also have a mobile vaccination station in Main Engineering, and on the bridge. ::pausing:: And yes, I do mean everyone. Ohnari out. =/\= ::raising an eyebrow:: Anyone who doesn't comply? We're sending Othin after them.
Looking around, she grimaced as she caught a glance of Othin. It seemed they would be sending the Klingon nurse after she finished bench pressing that unfortunate vet tech who ate her pudding cup....one would think a replicator would be good enough, but these she apparently imported from home, and was very protective of her snacks.
Ohnari: ::turning back to Alix:: Now comes the most difficult decision....Rock, Paper, Scissors for who has to make the Captain drop his pants?
Harford: Response
TAG/TBC
((OOC ~ For ease of writing, if you want to have your character go to a mobile vaccination station "off screen", feel free. Anyone who forgets will be answering to a muscle mommy Klingon. And anyone who waits until the last minute, intent on said muscle mommy, will get the cold fish hands of Antedian Tech, Pe'arl. Whom I've just invented.))
