Naxell: Well, what are you all waiting for? Eat! Drink! Merry-make!

Lera sighed. At least that was over. If it had been up to her, Lera would have simply departed, preferably with Ezra. She was as tired as she had been after her first marathon, when every muscle throughout her entire body had a low-level throbbing ache. What she needed then were carbohydrates, water, and rest. Not a "lay down and nap" rest, but a gentle "keep walking" rest. It was a mistake many first-time marathoners made. They came to a full stop and let the blood settle to their legs. Their blood pressure fell to dangerously low levels, and, all too often, they fainted. This was different, but Lera knew that was still the right answer. Get up. Start moving. Eat something. Perhaps eat a lot of something.

She and Ezra stood. Lera noted that Morda was standing, watching them.

Morda: Sir, ma’am? No need for us all to deal with the crowd. Can I get you something?

Michaels: That would be nice of you. If you get two of the lemon bars. And a large chocolate milk if there is any available. Or a chocolate anything, actually.

Zerva: Response

Michaels: I have often said that, for humans, beer is the perfect post-marathon beverage. Cold, mostly water with some carbohydrates and a small amount of painkiller. Unfortunately, that aphorism does not work for me. Sucrose and chocolate are more effective than ethanol.

Zerva: Response

Morda: No problem. I’m off to brave the hoard.

Michaels: Thank you.

Zerva: Response

Morda headed off in the general direction of the refreshments. Very few individuals remained seated. Most seemed to be gathering in small groups, exchanging congratulations, and talking of many things. Lera turned to Ezra. For a moment, she felt uncomfortable with so many people around. Illogically, she felt unsafe. Lera shook that thought away. She took a deep breath.

oO This is illogical. It is being paranoid. This is probably the safest place in the galaxy at the moment. If anyone tried anything, Ezra, the entirety of security and half the crew would be on them faster than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest. Oo

Michaels: Nice young man, that Morda. I like him. ::smiling at Ezra:: We should socialize. Is there anyone in particular you would like to greet while we are here?

Zerva: Response

Michaels: I should speak with Lieutenant Ayement Dewitt. That assumes there is a moment when she is free.

Zerva: Response
