((Two weeks before Karsyn reports to the USS Khitomer))
A gentle patter of rain tapped at the windows and dimmed the morning sun that was struggling to make its way through the bedroom window. The room was quiet save for the delicate sounds of the weather and the rustling of a plush wine colored duvet balled up around the blonde woman who stirred alone in the center of the bed. As Valora’s eyes fluttered open she smiled. This was home. She loved her ship, The Opulent, she loved their condo on Risa and their apartment in the New Auria settlement, but France would always feel the most like home.
V. Croix: ::stretching and waking up:: Karsyn? ::looks around:: Karsyn why aren't you in bed?
Getting out of bed, Valora grabbed her pink silk dressing robe and slipped it on over the matching nightgown, tying it at the waist. Her feet slipped into matching pink slippers and she began walking around their chateau until she found Karsyn sitting on their couch with a glass of water in his hand. Crossing her arms over her chest, she faked a pout.
V. Croix: Why weren't you in bed when I woke up?
Karsyn flashed a quick grin in response as he raised his glass of water to his lips. He then set it back on the table and looked up at his demanding wife.
K. Croix: What are you? A lawyer?
V. Croix: In fact, I am... or I was, for a lifetime once. ::shrugs:: It was boring.
Val walked over and wrapped her arms around Karsyn's neck, settling into his lap.
V. Croix: Kiss me good morning.
Karsyn leaned forward and provided Val with a simple good morning peck on the lips to appease her.
K. Croix: Morning babe. ::Stretched his left arm out to relieve muscular tightness:: I was working out.
V. Croix: Of course you were.
She ran her hands along his muscular biceps. Karsyn put a lot of effort into staying in shape and she quite appreciated the results.
He flexed his biceps in a playful manner. Karsyn slid his hands down Valora’s sides resting them on her hips. He peered into her blue eyes and appeared to be extremely relaxed. He then let out a quiet sigh.
K. Croix: You’re in a good mood today.
V. Croix: Of course I am. ::kisses his cheek:: I'm with you.
He ran his fingers through her soft blonde hair and decided to be a gentleman as he offered his lady a drink.
K. Croix: Want me to make you a coffee or something?
Valora fell backwards off his lap to lounge on the couch, throwing her legs up to rest on the back.
V. Croix: Mmmm... Raktajino with cream.
Karsyn rose to his feet and gave Valora a once over, his wife was gorgeous and he was lucky to have been married to her for nearly two hundred years. He walked over to the kitchen and began to make her Raktajino. He leaned against the counter as he waited and looked across the room at Valora.
K. Croix: What are your plans for the day?
Valora gave him a rueful smile. She was about to utter his least favorite sentence in all of existence, and she delighted in how much it pained him. Even more, she delighted in the fact that this man loved spoiling her so much, that he never said no.
V. Croix: Take me shopping.
He walked over to pour them both a glass of raktajino and added cream. He didn’t particularly enjoy shopping for women's stuff, but he let out a loud sigh. He made the sigh sound humorous, but he would definitely meet her demands to avoid any long term conflict.
K. Croix: I suppose.
Karsyn walked over to Valora, handed her the drink, and plopped down next to her on the couch.
V. Croix: It will be so much fun! I promise! Besides, you'll need a whole new wardrobe. I need all of the women on your new ship to know you have a wife with taste.
He threw up his hands casually and shrugged his shoulders briefly.
K. Croix: Oh we’re shopping for me? You don’t like my current style?
V. Croix: Of course I do, mon coeur. But tell me honestly. How many outfits have you gotten in the four years since you left?
Karsyn pondered in thought for a few moments. He really only changed styles every decade or two to keep up with the times as trends are known to change like clockwork.
K. Croix: Ummm…::short pause:: none that I can think of.
V. Croix: Exactly. So shopping is in order.
He took a sip of his coffee and leaned back on the couch casually.
K. Croix: Alright since you insist.
V. Croix: Karsyn... I've been thinking…
He arched a brow and an expression of curiosity was evident on his face.
K. Croix: Oh yeah? About what?
V. Croix: Maybe it's time for me to close my business and be closer to you.
He nodded his head in agreement with Valora. It would be nice to have her nearby.
K. Croix: I’d like that.
V. Croix: Mind you it will take a bit of time.
He tilted his head slightly and sought out confirmation from his wife.
K. Croix: You’re going to join me on the Khitomer?
V. Croix: I'm thinking about it. Would you like it if I did?
He spoke in a flirtatious tone of voice in response and pinched her side playfully.
K. Croix: Of course, because I’d be just so lost without you.
V. Croix: I don't know about lost, Karsyn. You've got a pretty good track record of always finding your way back to me.
She sat up to sip her raktajino and looked lovingly at him. It was these moments that made her wonder why they ever split at all. Why didn't she just stay with him always?
He mirrored his better half as he sipped his own raktajino. She really was his best girl and the one who stood the test of time by his side. They had their ups and downs, but they always ended up circling back together.
K. Croix: I don’t think the feeling is one sided babe.
V. Croix: I think I want to be done with the leaving part, Karsyn.
He pulled Val in close to snuggle sitting there and kissed the top of her head. Her hair smelt delightful with whatever fragrance she was using. She was always clean and took care of herself.
K. Croix: I’m done as well. We’re better together anyways.
V. Croix: Are you sure you can put up with me for 700 years?
He nodded his head in confirmation and replied without hesitation.
K. Croix: Yes
V. Croix: I think Starfleet is the only thing you've ever loved more than you love me.
He reflected quickly on parts of his life that Valora was involved in and there were too many to recollect in all honesty. Starfleet took up a small portion of his life that didn’t compare with her.
K. Croix: I mean, I’ve spent almost my entire life with you. Starfleet, 10 years, that’s nothing compared to you. Don’t be silly.
V. Croix: You love me more than Starfleet?
His tone turned to sarcasm, of course he loved her more than Starfleet.
K. Croix: Um, no brainer.
V. Croix: Then say it. Tell me you love me more.
He merely played along with Valora’s little love game. If he didn’t there would likely be conflict and he wanted to enjoy his time with her prior to shipping out on the Khitomer.
K. Croix: I love you more than Starfleet.
V. Croix: I know. ::cheeky smile::
He set his drink down and crossed his arms comfortably.
K. Croix: Then why ask?
V. Croix: I just needed to hear you say it.
Valora stretched her neck slightly to kiss his cheek and then cuddled up closer to his side. They sat comfortably and sipped their coffees in silence watching the gentle storm clouds roll through the sky as the hushed sounds of rain created the perfect backdrop to the romantic moment.
