OOC Repost due to myself and Steve both seemingly posting at the exact same time. I’ve tried to incorporate my previous sim as well as this one. For plot purposes I have left out Zerva and Michaels convo as it seemed to be more a private thing but I would place it just before the ‘Short Timeskip’ tag. Hope this makes sense!
(( Sickbay, Deck 6, USS Khitomer - Lagoon Nebula ))
Ayemet rose from the bedside. Her friend was recovering; slowly. The physical wounds would heal, Talia had ensured that with her skill and determination, but as for his mind he might need to speak to her or Pershan. That too would come in time.
Semara: :: Raised voice :: Got wounded!
Ohnari: ::calling out:: Bring 'em to Biobed four!
Ayemet crossed over quickly to biobed four: she was not a nurse, but she would do what she could to help.
A Dewitt: Just tell me what you need Talia.
Ohnari/Zerva: Response
Semara: :: Heavy breathing :: Hard hit to the head. Metal, I think. Heard it 'cross the bridge. Big gash, did what I could. I know how head wounds bleed, but I don't need to tell ya that prolly ain't the big problem... :: Beat :: 'Fore that, console blew. Said he couldn't see. Didn't see it, had my head down. Maybe electrical, maybe chemical, maybe just light. Washed it first I could, just in case.
Ohnari: Thank you Lieutenant, Ezra? I need you to look directly over my head ::the illuminated tip of the tricorder scanned across his eyes, turning towards Ayemet:: Standard dermal regen on that superficial head gash, setting two. Are you having any severe pain or weakness? How blurry do I appear to you?
Ayemet nodded. Regardless of what she thought of her skill set, now was not the time for inward contemplation. She went over to the small draw of medical equipment, picking up the dermal regenerator and turning it to setting two.
A Dewitt: I’m on it Talia.
Zerva: Response
Ohnari: Alright Mr. Zerva your head wound has been repaired, ::dipping her head:: Thank you Ayemet. Now you have some minor corneal abrasions and a mild concussion. I am going to give you some medical drops right now, and you'll need to use them before you go to bed. That will repair the damage, and you should anticipate your vision returning to normal after some rest. ::quickly, she placed the drops in each eye swiftly:: Blink several times to allow the drops to distribute correctly, and then I want you to stay right where you are until I say otherwise. ::turning:: Lieutenant Semara, how are you feeling?
The regenerator didn’t take long to do its’ work. The advancement of technology had in recent years accelerated beyond many people’s expectations. Although incident like the ill fated M5 computer had shown there was always the chance for terrible consequences f technology run amok for the most part it had been hugely beneficial for the safety and health of those in the Federation.
A Dewitt: What’s next Talia?
Zerva: Response
Semara: Hmm? :: Opening her eyes. :: Oh, me? Adrenaline crash. I think. That, or I took more Sencha radiation earlier today than I realized.
Ohnari: Uh huh....::the whirring of the scan finalized with a beep:: We're going to go with option number two...::turning to her deputized friend:: Ayemet? Can you please input the post exposure and Lieutenant Semara's biosignature please? Alright Amelia, you've had a bit more exposure than I am comfortable with, but the good news is, all you have to do is lay right where you are. ::accepting the device:: I am attaching an isotope scrubber ::gently attaching the device to the Betazoid's left thigh:: Sorry for the sting. I'm going to have you bunk up with Ras for a bit since you're both in an exposure protocol. Can the bridge spare you?
Once more Ayemet followed her friend’s orders, her hands flying over the LCARS interface and inputting the necessary information. At least she felt if some use even if it was as some sort of deputised nurse.
A Dewitt: Inputting now.
Zerva: Response
Semara: :: A dreamy, swaying closed-eye grin. :: Nah, ship's good now. Cap'n plugged the Hobart Hole with the Ouachita. :: Her eyes flew open. :: Er, we collapsed the anomaly with a shuttle warp field. :: A sigh. :: An' I've been so good not usin' that perfectly fine name all day!
Ayemet’s left eyebrow had raised in arched expression before she felt her friend’s hand on her arm. She looked at her with amused surprise:
Ohnari: ::to Ayemet:: Please tell me you heard her say it too.
Ayemet: It’s what you’ve always wanted isn’t it? To plug Hobart’s hole?
Ohnari: ::awe bled into her tone:: This is the best day of my entire life.
Ayemet couldn’t help but laugh. In amongst the danger and the chaos it was beyond good that her friend could find the absurd and funny. That in itself was medicine of the very finest order.
Zerva: It’s true. I was there… definitely Hobart’s Hole ::snickers:: You just wait till Semara puts it on an official star map…
Semara: Can't. It's closed. :: Beat :: Besides it's "Hobart Hole". Like Black Hole. Or Hawking Radiation. :: A little grin. :: Didn't I teach you anythin' today, or ya already forget it all? Hobart's Hole, possessive... I do believe that might be your domain, doc.
A Dewitt: Yes I believe Hobart’s hole is completely your area of expertise:
Ohnari: Response
It was more than enough to forget all about the uncomfortable radiation scrubber stuck to her thigh with a needle through her skin.
Zerva: ::smiles:: Oh I can’t wait… to see the look on… the look on the Captain’s face when… well you know… my eyes are better. ::chuckles:: On top of that, I made the MacZerva device.
Ayemet turned off the light above the betazoid’s biobed. Her energy and humor were almost contagious but regardless of the positive energy it provided both her and Talia, Semara was exhausted. She needed rest.
A Dewitt: Time to get some sleep Lieutenant.
Ohnari : Response
Zerva: It’s a bunch of parts I used… from a dermal regenerator… uh a micro-resonator… ::struggling to remember all the parts:: my phaser and uhh… several other odds and ends of umm… various tech we could scrap together on the… ugh, bridge. ::takes a moment to breath:: It was… was an attempt to boost the sensor signal. Based on what happened with… umm, with the runabout going into the Hobart Hole ::smirk, then to Semara :: I’m guessing it worked a little too good?
Semara: Guess so. :: Beat :: You know, you gotta lotta energy for someone who's been up all day and just got clonked on the head...
Ayemet shook her head, placing a hand on Semara’s shoulder. How this woman kept going, kept driving forward, was nothing but remarkable, particularly given her mental and physical state,
But she felt the same sort of insistence that Talia must have felt.
A Dewitt: I said time to rest Amelia.
Ohnari : Response
Zerva: Well then, I guess you can add that to the… uh, list of discoveries. But I don’t think anything will top the hole.
She saw Semara finally succumb to exhaustion and the mild sedative that had been administered and slowly but surely drift off to sleep.
Semara: :: Sleepily slurred :: Likethetoppin'onasubspacesundae
A Dewitt: Yeah totally like that.
Ohnari: Response
Zerva: Thanks. I’m feeling a little bit better… Now there’s only three of you here and not like twelve. ::struggling to remember what happened since the science console injured him:: Semara? Did I miss anything while I was out of it? ::scratches his head:: I suddenly have a craving for a salad.
Treating the various injuries that had happened around the ship had been chaotic, but satisfying in a way. If only counselling was that rewarding. Maybe she was just jaded, or tired, or possibly both.
A Dewitt: Would you like to talk about Hobart’s hole?
Ohnari: Response
She left Semara’s side and took a seat on the sidelines, running a hand through her hair, her ponytail now loose and messy. She looked across at Talia and Zerva and smiled.
A Dewitt: Another typical day in Starfleet.
Ohnari/Zerva: Response
She threw her hands up in mock indignation, and laughed. It was tired and ragged but a laugh nonetheless. The kind of laugh that one gave after sharing a trauma and surviving it together.
A Dewitt: So… the test went well then.
Ohnari/Zerva: Response
Ayemet nodded her head and gave a grim smile to the two officers. She got up from the chair in an effort that was only so difficult due to exhaustion. She knew that this was but a taste of what Talia went through every time a medical emergency happened and her respect for her friend grew even more than it already was.
A Dewitt: Using humor in intense situations can be psychologically beneficial; either that or I am just a sarcastic Bajoran El-Aurian hybrid.
Ohnari/Zerva: Response
((Short Timeskip))
The broken body of Commander T’Dara lay before her. By the Prophets how did Talia and Ras put up with this everyday?
The last time she had seen T’Dara they had not ventured far from the perceived expectations of what people thought a Vulcan should look like or act. Of course she had seen enough to know that sweeping generalisations were not an accurate way to describe anyone, but T’Dara had fulfilled most of them nonetheless.
Still she had found herself admiring and in fact liking the Engineer so to see her in this state, stripped of the quiet dignity that she had once carried, and now her face etched with the stress of controlling her pain and emotions was difficult.
T’Dara: Why couldn’t…?
A Dewitt : It have been anybody else? You’re stuck with me for the moment Commander. But don’t worry I’m not your surgeon . Luckily for you Doctor Ohnari will be performing that role.
Ohnari: Response
She resisted the desire to place a comforting hand on T’Dara. Most Vulcans she knew tolerated physical contact. Tolerated and nothing more. Besides now was not the time for comfort. Now was the time for Ayemet to prep the patient as best as she could so that her friend. Talia, could once again perform some medical miracle.
T’Dara: Why couldn’t I just say no?
A Dewitt: Was that the logical choice? We are all bound by duty as Starfleet Officers, and My understanding of Vulcan culture is that you have a particular affinity for holding on to traditions.
Michaels: She does not sound good. Was she also injured when you were on the Bridge?
Zerva: Response
As Talia began her work Ayemet the tension , the expectation of pain and the realisation of it washed over sickbay as real and as strong as if it had had a physical presence. T’Dara was no child , and would have had years of emotional control and the guidance of logic to prepare her for such eventualities. Yet the anguish from her was undeniable, the battle of control verses capitulating to the pain , and something else. Some other emotion that Ayemet was surprised to feel; guilt.
A Dewitt: You couldn’t have known that this would happen. You made the most logical choice based on the evidence presented to you.
Michaels: Emotional outbursts from a Vulcan. ::Lera glanced down at her knees. Lera had her excuse for emotional outbursts. :: From a fully trained Vulcan. Projected emotions like I... like I felt when I first met her...:: Lera scrunched her forehead in thought. :: I wonder. I have never actually seen a case, but I have read a lot about it. It only affects aged Vulcans... Of course, compared to me, every Vulcan you are likely to meet is old. I did not think T'Dara was that old. ::beat:: It almost looks like Bendii Syndrome.
T’Dara / Ohnari / Zerva / Any: Response
Ayemet stood back from Talia as she worked. She would only be in the way, and the work was delicate and tricky enough to not require any distraction from her.
A Dewitt: Let me know if you need anything Talia.
Ohnari/Michaels/TDara/Zerva/ Any: Response
Every mission carried risk, but this was supposed to be without the dangers that most of their work in the Isles normally faced. Whilst they had been confined in sickbay for the time, they had not been immune to the sencha wave, nor the injuries caused by the technological exigencies that had occurred. Questions would need to be asked but for the moment there was only one that truly mattered.
A Dewitt: How is the patient Doctor?
Ohnari/Michaels /T’Dara/Zerva/ Any: Response
