((Anyone in SIckbay, please feel free to jump in))

When Lera stepped into the Sickbay, she was immediately struck by how crowded it was. In one direction, all the beds seemed to be occupied, several of them by people she knew. At the far end of Sickbay was the isolation ward, and Lera knew that was where she would find Ras. A handful of the nurses were active in that direction. The rest of the medical staff were crowded around a single bio-bed, but Lera could not identify the patient.

Lera took a step in the direction of the mystery patient, but Nurse LeDoux promptly intervened. The splotch of green on LeDoux's tunic told Lera who the patient was.

Michaels: Commander T'Dara.

LeDoux: Yes. And no. I don't know what her prognosis is. But please. You must to stay out of the way.

Michaels: I understand. May I visit Lieutenant El'Heem?

LeDoux: I don't know if he is awake or not, or if Dr. Ohnari has cleared him for visitors. You can look at him through the glass. Beyond that...

Michaels: Thank you. You are being exceptionally informative today.

LeDoux: Please. We are busy at the moment.

LeDoux turned back and rejoined the team working with T'Dara. Lera started past the beds. Amelia was asleep. Lera nodded and acknowledged the others that she knew well, offering brief words of condolence and encouragement. She was here to visit El'Heem, whose injuries were exceptionally extreme, and she would stop and visit longer once she was done with him.

But she stopped and had to force herself to breathe when she came to the bed where Ezra was lying motionless. How badly had he been injured? She glanced around. No nurses or doctors were hovering over him, so it could not be too bad. Could it? She glanced up at the readout over his bio-bed. All his vital signs looked steady, but that did not help her anxiety. Ezra was Trill and Lera had no idea what normal vital signs were for a Trill.

She moved to his side and studied him carefully. Everything looked fine. That observation eased her discomfort. There was a reddish mark on his forehead that looked like the aftermath of a dermal regenerator. She sighed. He was supposed to be safe... at least as safe as anyone on the ship could have been. He was a Security officer, and they were not supposed to be in dangerous situations... unless there were hostile invaders on board or something like that. She shook her head. She should talk. She was the one who had been off the ship in a minimally functional shuttle craft, in a damaged environment suit, galavanting around with a probe designed to destroy the ship, and had a circuit that would vaporize your hand if you touched it.

Michaels: My poor Ezra. What happened to you?

Lera reached out to touch his forehead but hesitated. Humans considered her hands to be icy cold. Trills? No. They had danced and held hands. Their body temperatures were a reasonably close match. She touched him with her first finger and gently brushed it over where the wound had been.

She nearly jumped back when, without opening his eyes, Ezra gently grabbed her wrist.
