((Turbolift, Deck One, USS Khitomer))

The button had been hit, and the transporters hummed. The cycle took a bit longer than usual as the buffers analyzed the incoming data and filled in the blank spaces within the patterns. As they found out during the process, the filaments seemed to run further through the ship than they had expected.

Dewitt: Good work, both of you. Generation is climbing. Warp core will be next, Mr Valeris. Set your targets. We recharge backup batteries between each run and give the capacitors some room to breathe.

Nodding as he adjusted the targeting scanners – which now was a much easier task as the transporters could actually see what they were trying to lock onto – Thelan tapped away at his console.

Vidya: Of course. ::Bowing:: It was a technological service that I was given to provide assistance.

Valeris: Which, is appreciated.

Michaels: Response

Before Thelan could activate the next round of transports, Lieutenant Semara’s voice came over the comm.

Semara: =/\= Semara to Commander Dewitt. =/\=

A chuckle came from the XO. A small smirk found its way onto Thelan’s face at the intentional rank declaration. It must have been nice to actually be able to use the proper rank now.

Dewitt: =/\= Comms assistant Dewitt here, Ma’am. Go ahead. =/\=

A quick glance towards the Velithari gave Thelan no real read on a reaction from the alien. If there was truly a reaction. Thelan knew he wouldn’t really be happy to have the previous deception thrown back into his face.

Semara: =/\= Question: How’s our impulse drive and tactical systems? =/\=

Connor took a second to glance down at a console before responding.

Dewitt: =/\= Impulse is on its way back, but we need some russian reactor energy to work down here. We just cleared the reactors and the nacelles. I would not bet my job on full impulse for a couple of minutes, but you will have maneuvering thrusters and… ::pause:: at least half impulse. Tactical systems though… We need to prioritize. =/\=

Sounded like a change of plans to Thelan. He continued to hold off on starting the next transport.

Semara: =/\= I only need torpedoes for the moment, long as we can move. ::Beat:: Oh, and - is the SDA still charged? =/\=

That drew Thelan’s attention towards the XO, who paused before answering.

Dewitt: =/\= I’m not sure I like the plan, Amelia. ::another pause:: The SDA is charged. Two shot at least. Three if we are stingy. Capacitors are isolated from the main systems so they will not refill until we connect them. ::another beat:: One thing before you reach for it… We do not know what the SDA pulse will do inside the cloud. We have used the SDA inside a nebula before. You surely remember… ::another pause:: Position us in a way that the SDA does not fire into the center of the cloud. =/\=

Semara: =/\= Excellent. Thank you, Commander. Semara out. =/\=

Thelan didn’t know much about the SDA. Really, he’d only actually heard the name in passing. But if the XO seemed nervous about using it, that made him nervous.

Dewitt: Commander, change of order. Warp core slides to the run after next. This one goes into weapons systems. Every filament sitting on a torpedo magazine, loading mechanism or launch tube comes first.

Valeris: ::A quick nod:: Aye, sir. Changing targets.

Turning back to his console, Thelan began to make the changes to the targeting system. It was going to take a few moments for the sensors to acquire its new targets.

Michaels: Response

Vidya: SDA? Explain.

Thelan did not have a good answer for the Velithari, so he kept his focus on the console in front of him.

Michaels/Dewitt: Response

Vidya: ::nods:: I see. So it is a weapon? ::to the XO:: You mentioned you have used this SDA before in another nebula? What were the results?

Valeris: ::To himself:: Nothing good, i’m assuming.

Thelan really didn’t have any idea what the result was. He’d never seen the weapon in action.

Michaels/Dewitt: Response

Vidya: Then I would advise using caution within the nebula cloud until such a time you have preparation. You have advised, true First Officer, keeping the SDA away from the center is a wise decision. I concur with that assessment. I recommend getting as close to the edge of the nebula’s cloud as possible before its use.

Thelan had to agree. They didn’t want to cause anymore harm to the cloud than they might have already by simply being there.

Valeris: Least chance of damage, the better.

Michaels/Dewitt: Response

Vidya: Very well. That is your prerogative. ::looking about:: How shall I assist with the torpedoes? Will there be more transporting of masses away from them?

With a final tap at his console, Thelan turned towards the others.

Valeris: Masses and filaments around the launchers and magazines have been targeted. ::Tapping the console:: Beginning transport now. ::towards Vidya:: Sorry, there isn’t much to do but wait now.

Dewitt/Michaels/Vidya: Response

Valeris: Should only be a few minutes, then we should have some freed up offenses.
